🏌️♂️ A Day on the Green for a Great Cause! 🏌️♀️ During #VeteranHealthWeek, we hosted our 2nd Annual Veteran Housing Australia Charity Golf Day in Brisbane, and wow, what a day! 🌞 From beautiful weather to great food and plenty of laughs, everyone had an incredible time hitting the greens—all for a powerful mission. There are almost 150,000 people in Australia who do not have a place to call home, with veterans making up over five per cent of the homeless population. VHA’s mission is to provide safe, secure and affordable housing for veterans, giving them a foundation to thrive. On 17 October we will be teeing up at The Brisbane Golf Club Inc for the events’ second year to honour our heroes. We are thankful for Be BlueRock Foundation's support. Their generous Kokoda Trek Charity donation has had an immediate, life-changing impact—helping vulnerable veterans on the brink of homelessness find stability and hope. 🙏 👇
In our final post sharing the stories of charities we supported through our Kokoda Charity Trek efforts, we're focusing on Carry On On, a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to providing affordable accommodation and comprehensive support services to veterans in need. Carry On is committed to their mission: that veterans and their families are supported in times of need and empowered to reach their potential. Through a donation of over $11,000 for Carry On, the collective effort will transform the lives of 11 homeless veterans, such as Paul, who served 13 years with the Australian Army in the RAA and RACT. Facing homelessness while his wife was 8 months pregnant and after 300 rental rejections, Paul and his family were on the brink of living out of their car. 🚗💔 But thanks to a referral from RSL Victoria to Carry On and Veteran Housing Australia, this story took a positive turn. Paul’s family got to move into a two-bedroom home in Noble Park, close to their previous community. Every veteran matters.

Paul and May lived in Veteran Housing Australia’s subsidised housing for six years, where they found not only affordable rent but also the support of a close-knit community. This helped ease their financial stress, allowing them to save, plan for the future, and get back on their feet.
