  • NEW BUNDABERG HOSPITAL | A key feature of the new hospital that we’re really excited about is the inclusion of a dedicated medical imaging suite in the new hospital’s emergency department. The suite, equipped with an x-ray, ultrasound, and CT scanner, will allow us to diagnose patients more efficiently, speed up treatment, and provide a smoother experience for those in critical care. Key benefits: ✅ Quicker access to diagnostic imaging for trauma, stroke, heart attack, and other time-sensitive emergencies. ✅ A more comfortable patient experience by reducing the need for transport. ✅ Streamlined workflows for staff, allowing more time for direct patient care. ✅ Valuable learning opportunities for our current staff and future students, enhancing skills in real-time emergency care. Hear more from Jodie Giese, A/Director of Medical Imaging (pictured), about the new hospital's emergency imaging suite here: https://lnkd.in/gjb7aa_k. More information about the project can be found here: https://lnkd.in/gHH8SUAk. #NewBundabergHospital Queensland Health, CPB Contractors, Billard Leece Partnership, Johnstaff

It’s not just for the elderly; it’s for everyone. *Plan Ahead: Think about the care and treatments you would or wouldn’t want if you couldn’t speak for yourself. *Write It Down: Document your preferences so your loved ones and healthcare team understand your choices. *Choose a Decision Maker: Nominate someone you trust to make medical decisions on your behalf if needed. *Give Peace of Mind: Taking action now helps reduce stress and uncertainty for your family in difficult times. By planning ahead, you stay in control of your health decisions. National Advance Care Planning Week, 17 – 23 March, is the perfect time to have a conversation with your loved ones and health providers so they know what matters most to you and respect your treatment preferences. • A recent visit by the Executive Director of the Queensland Health Office of Research and Innovation is fostering connections with researchers in regional and remote areas. During her visit to Hervey Bay, Professor Julie White met with members of the WBHHS Research Consumer Advisory Group (RCAG) with a key focus of sharing her vision for the future of teletrials in Queensland. This included a particular emphasis on aged care and mental health services in regional, rural, and remote areas. Professor White highlighted the potential for teletrials to improve access to innovative treatments and clinical trials for people who might otherwise face geographical barriers. Our thanks to Professor White for visiting the region and members of the WBHHS RCAG for sharing their local knowledge and experiences of health challenges faced by the Wide Bay community. • Did you know it’s estimated the healthcare sector contributes about 7% of Australia’s annual carbon footprint? Thanks to our large facilities, continuous heating and cooling needs, and consumption of huge amounts of clinical consumables and equipment to care for patients, we’re intensive users of energy and producers of waste. We’re pleased to say WBBHS is working to address that. Through our Environmental Sustainability Strategy, we’re gradually reducing our energy, waste and greenhouse gas emissions through a range of actions including: * Installing rooftop solar and switching our fleet cars to electric * Improving access to recycling * Rethinking some of our clinical practices to reduce their environmental impact. To find out more about our sustainability strategy, head to our website. https://lnkd.in/gxv45Ub8... #sustainability #WBHHS #environment

  • Some of our patients at the Bundaberg Hospital had a pleasant dose of medicine to brighten their day on Wednesday after receiving personally written letters and cards from St Mary's Catholic Primary School students. As part of the National Letter to An Elder Day initiative, students from Prep to Year 6 crafted their special messages with the primary purpose of bringing joy to the elderly who are spending time in hospital. National Letter to An Elder Day is held every year on February 26 as a reminder that elders in our life, or those who may be isolated from others, enjoy hearing from us. A simple unexpected letter is a great pick-me-up and a powerful way to stay connected. The visit to the Bundaberg Hospital was Initiated by the Partners in Care Foundation which invited the students to take part. As a result, around 300 letters and cards were delivered to the Bundaberg Hospital for the foundation's volunteers to pass on to patients during their visits. A BIG thank you to the students at St Mary's Catholic Primary School for your awesome enthusiasm and kindness! #StMarysCatholicPrimarySchool, #PartnersinCare, #LettertoAnElderDay, #BundabergHospital
