Thank you, Sofie Gauci, for running a successful and insightful R U OK? 𝗗𝗮𝘆 afternoon tea. Whilst our Workplace Wellbeing Specialists were carrying out activities on site, in the WFR office, Sofie shared a presentation with a quiz that followed with what R U OK? Day is about, its origins and useful tips on asking if someone you know is ok. All while enjoying delicious gluten and dairy free cupcakes (made by Sofie) and R U OK? biscuits. And the winners of the R U OK? Day quiz were: 1st place Brent Eales 2nd place Taylor H., and 3rd place Ashraf Dashlooty #ruok #ruokday2024 #mentalhealth

𝗢𝘂𝗿 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝗪𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗯𝗲𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝗽𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘀𝘁𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 - 𝗪𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗯𝗲𝗶𝗻𝗴! Who better to ask on RU Ok? Day about how to stay mentally well than our Team! Joshua Ireland, Ray Lewis, and Callum Cant share some ways to help their mental health in their personal, FIFO, and work lives. Thanks for sharing. A conversation can save a life 💛 RU OK? Day is about starting a conversation and commenting on your noticed changes. You could help that family member, friend, or workmate open up. If they say they are not OK, you can follow our conversation steps to show them they’re supported and help them find strategies to better manage the load. If they are OK, that person will know you’re someone who cares enough to ask. It is not only for the 12th of September - Practice this all year. #ruokday #mentalhealth #suicideprevention #employeewellbeing

𝗧𝗼𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝗶𝘀 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 𝗦𝘂𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗗𝗮𝘆 There is evidence that the suicide rate among mining and construction workers is increasing, with the suicide rate for the period of 2012–2019 significantly higher than the other worker groups. A study among Australian coal miners found higher levels of psychological distress than among a national sample of employed persons, and higher levels of psychological distress among workers at remote mines have also been observed. At WFR, we are fully aware of the pressures not only in the mining and construction sector but also in the full workforce and the struggles individuals have with mental health and coping with life's stresses. Part of WFR's business Thrive Model is our Enhancing Mental Wellbeing Program. We proudly deliver our bespoke programs to employees in any sector to assist in preventing and reducing the suicide rates among workers in Australia. #mentalhealth #mentalhealthawareness #mentalhealthawareness #employeewellbeing

We were pleased to deliver our 12-week Goal Set Program to The University of Queensland participants to make habitual changes to their health's core areas. The program required a versatile strategy to support the number of campuses across Qld. Participants were invited to live webinars each fortnight and provided access to topic-specific intervention programs, pre-recorded health topics, and online group fitness videos. Additionally, topic-related health surveys were distributed to all participants for their completion. As you can see, the program was deemed a great success, and the staff have made positive changes in their health journeys. Great work, The University of Queensland!! #employeehealth #workplacewellbeing #clientstories #sydney #brisbane

Over 2 in 5 (44%) Australians* aged 16 to 85 years experienced a mental health disorder during their lifetime. Anxiety and depression affect people in all stages of life, but the prevalence is highest during prime working years. Untreated depression is a significant risk factor for suicide. Suicide rates are double the national road toll, and they are particularly high for men. These statistics emphasise the high prevalence of anxiety and depression. ▪ From the Census 2021 (ABS 2022c), around 1 in 10 (9% or 2.2 million) Australians reported that they had been diagnosed with a mental health condition. ▪ In any given year, more than two million Australians will experience anxiety, double the number who experience depression. ▪ One in four Australians will experience an anxiety condition at some stage in their life – 1 in 6 are affected by anxiety (most common disorder) ▪ Every day there are about 8.6 suicides in Australia, and a further estimated 200 attempts (~178/day or 65,000 a year estimated in 2009) ▪ Of all suicides in Australia, 75% are male ▪ Suicide is the leading cause of death for both males and females aged 15-44 ▪ Males aged 85 and older experience the highest age-specific rate of suicide #employeewellbeing #mentalhealth #workplacewellness *From the 2021 NSMHWB (ABS 2022a)

𝗔𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝗻 𝗠𝗼𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝗛𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗽   WFR is actively engaged at Fortescue Solomon, conducting our 𝘍𝘪𝘵4𝘓𝘪𝘧𝘦 𝘗𝘳𝘰𝘨𝘳𝘢𝘮, 𝘈𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘪𝘯 𝘔𝘰𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 (𝘈𝘐𝘔), and 𝘔𝘢𝘯𝘶𝘢𝘭 𝘏𝘢𝘯𝘥𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘞𝘰𝘳𝘬𝘴𝘩𝘰𝘱𝘴 to promote workplace safety and wellbeing. Workplace injuries have numerous adverse impacts. Firstly, for the injured employee, depending on the severity, getting them to focus on their recovery and getting back to their day-to-day activities. Workplace injuries can disrupt workflow, create emotional stress for colleagues and witnesses and may impact their mental and physical health. To prevent workplace injuries, it's beneficial to understand how they occur during daily tasks. WFR liaises with Fortesque department leaders and the Health & Safety team to gather information, understand previous onsite injuries, and develop strategies to minimise their recurrence.   Shown here, our workplace wellbeing specialist, Colin, is reviewing footage from AIM and discussing with the crew the best methods for installing additional safety equipment on heavy machinery. We discuss the importance of proper job actions and offer strength and conditioning programs to maintain physical fitness and mobility.   The Fortescue Solomon team particularly appreciated the accompaniment of visual aids such as AIM and OnForm. These aids provide an easy-to-follow visual understanding of properly performing lifts and maintaining correct postures, enhancing the learning experience and improving safety practices. #workplacesafety #injuryprevention #OHS #employeewellbeing

𝗕𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗲𝘃𝘂𝗲 𝗚𝗼𝗹𝗱 𝗦𝗼𝗰𝗰𝗲𝗿 𝗠𝗮𝘁𝗰𝗵! ⚽⚽ Our Workplace Wellness Specialist, Callum, at Bellevue Gold, recently organised an 'Off-site Corporate' vs. 'Site' Indoor Soccer match, which was a great success! It was a nice opportunity for off-site and on-site staff to mingle and catch up outside of work, and it was great for team building. A mixture of skill levels was on display, and the game was completed in a good spirit at a high intensity. It was close for the majority of the game, but in the end, the site staff won the game 6-3. The corporate team enjoyed it so much that they would like to make it a monthly occurrence, with different sports and activities completed throughout the year by all the different crews, all supported and organised by WFR. The drinks and pizza following the event were well-deserved and went down very well. Cheers #employeehealth #business #worksafety #exercisephysiology

𝗪𝗙𝗥 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 The WFR team values training and supporting our staff; therefore, every two months, we run several engaging training sessions over a two-week period so that all our staff can attend the training around their rosters nationwide. We’re focused on the best ways to deliver these sessions to ensure that our staff members are fully trained to deliver the WFR products to the highest standard and build connections to support each other. The August team training focused on our Action in Motion Program. One of our project managers, Max, presented scenarios to the groups, and then the Workplace Wellbeing Specialists assessed the situations and then discussed their outcomes together. They delivered their outcomes consistently and thoroughly. Senior Workplace Wellbeing Specialist Josh Ireland presented how to help deliver outstanding fitness circuits to a group. This is particularly useful for fluctuating attendance and varying environments where the WWS delivers the programs. The team split into small groups and created fitness schedules as examples, targeting all muscle groups and enabling all participants with diverse fitness levels. #exercisecareer #worksafety #exercisephysio #employeesafety #worplacesafety
