#BESIXmilestone • The first section of the Scheldt Tunnel in Antwerp 🇧🇪 is underwater! 🤩 Last Friday, the TM COTU joint venture breached the old Scheldt dyke on Antwerp's Left Bank. With the final section now excavated, the first tunnel segment is completely underwater! 💦This is a major step in the construction of the Scheldt Tunnel, a key component of the Oosterweel link. 🙌 To replace the old dyke, a new, 2.5-metre-higher dyke has been constructed 300 metres further inland. This not only strengthens the city's flood protection but also allows for the development of 24 hectares of valuable tidal nature, including mudflats and a floodplain forest.🌿 What's next? 👀 Transporting the 8 tunnel elements from Zeebruges to Antwerp, where they will be submerged into their final position! #Throwback 🔙 It's been one month since the stunning Kangaroo Point Bridge opened in #Brisbane 🇦🇺! 🤩 🏗️ BESIX Watpac, leading the Brisbane Connect team, completed this new city landmark in December 2024. Stretching 460 metres across Brisbane River, it's one of the world’s longest single-mast cable-stayed pedestrian and bicycle bridges! 🙌 The bridge now provides a vital link between Kangaroo Point and the city’s Central Business District. #BESIXdelivery • Transforming an old grain factory into a modern mixed-use neighbourhood in Deinze: ✅ 🤩 🏗️ In 2024, BESIX successfully completed the first phase of the Liv - De Molens project for 3D Real Estate. This phase included the construction of three buildings with apartments, commercial spaces and an underground car park. 🏙️ Designed by Reiulf Ramstad Arkitekter AS, the project embraces the 'five-minute city' concept, where essential services are just a short walk away! It's all connected with a new park, creating a calm environment where working, living and relaxing blend seamlessly. 🤝 BESIX has also been awarded the contract for the second phase of this ambitious project. #BESIXmilestone • The first out of seven new bridges in #Gabon has been inaugurated! 🎉 Last November, BESIX and MBB - Metallic Bridges of Belgium s.a. (MATIERE) opened the first footbridge in Libreville 🇬🇦 in the presence of Gabon's Minister of Public Works! This is part of a broader infrastructure initiative aimed at improving safety and boosting economic development in the region. 👏 This transformative project includes the design and construction of three additional pedestrian bridges, two 200-metre flyovers in Libreville, and a 200-metre steel bridge over the River Abanga in Ebel 🇬🇦. 🏗️ #BESIX #Infrastructure #Gabon #Bridge
