Customer loyalty programs have become a key topic in German food retail at the start of 2025, with data playing an increasingly important role and Daltix now also covering in-app coupons. Rewe recently parted ways with Payback and introduced its own program, Rewe Bonus, which closely mirrors the successful jö program launched in Austria a few years ago. Meanwhile, Payback remains a major player with around 30 million users in Germany, now including partnerships with Edeka and Globus. However, it’s worth noting that one of Edeka’s seven regions has opted out of the collaboration. According to Lebensmittelzeitung Lidl currently leads the pack in customer loyalty with Lidl Plus, boasting a remarkable 35% share of regular customers in Germany. Aldi Süd also made headlines over the Christmas period, offering a compelling promotion: a €5 discount on purchases of €40 or more through a gift card, rolled out in both Germany and at Hofer in Austria. As loyalty programs evolve, Daltix continues to deliver invaluable insights by tracking prices, promotions, product ranges, and even app-based vouchers and promotions.
