Join us in two weeks' time in Brussels for the joint StoRIES and EERA JP ES event. Registration is now open! 📆 19-20 November 2024 📍 Brussels ✍ Registration mandatory to attend in person
As Europe moves towards a greater share of energy generated by renewable energy sources such as wind power and solar photovoltaic (PV), our energy systems will require a greater degree of flexibility to adjust for the fluctuations in energy production. Energy storage is – in combination with other technologies – well suited to respond to this challenge and ensure a continued security of energy supply at any time. The EERA Joint programme for Energy Storage is the first pan-European programme to bring together all major fields of energy storage research. JPES therefore represents a unique opportunity to align research and development activities in the field.

💬 “Sustainability is not in opposition to competition, but a critical success factor for competitiveness, fairness and democracy.” Inspiring remarks from our 2024 High-Level Policy Conference 🗣️ opening speaker Janez Potocnik, Co-Chair of the International Resource Panel & Former European Commissioner for Science and Research (2004 – 2010) and Environment (2010 2014). Taking to the 🎤 stage to discuss the key highlights from our upcoming flagship report, EERA Secretary General Adel El Gammal further stressed the need for innovation funding to be seen as an investment rather than a cost to society.🌱 And that’s not all! Rosalinde van der Vlies, 🌍 Clean Planet Director at the European Commission, reminded us of the core message of today’s conference in her conversation with energy and climate journalist Anna Gumbau Martínez, namely that research and innovation is crucial to meet our climate ambitions and drive forward EU competitiveness, with a core need to 📈 invest in both our short and long-term future. #EUSustainableCompetitiveness #R&IAtTheCore ⏺️ Join us live to explore how energy research drives the EU’s strategic goals: https://lnkd.in/ecDx7U8S
