Efficient Buildings Europe reposted this
I have a rule about never being 'proud of' or 'honoured about' anything on LinkedIn. I am, after all, from a country shaped by the "Law of Jante", where the first of ten rules is that "You're not to think you are anything special" (look it up if you don't know it!) This time I'll make an exemption, however, because I was both proud, honoured - and surprised! - to be asked to feature in the Building Magazine #WomenInConstruction25 special to coincide with #IWD2025. I had a great chat with Jordan Marshall about my work at VELUX and Efficient Buildings Europe, how the #construction sector is moving towards including #sustainability and #energyefficiency more centrally, and why #diversity - also beyond #gender - matters to me. I'm one of 12 women featured in the report, covering different geographies and disciplines and you should read them all - I was very inspired by them all 💪 I'll leave you with my final thoughts in the interview: “Don’t apologise for your gender or your agenda,” she says. “If you are given an opportunity, take it. You deserve to be there.” #AccelerateAction #buildings
Meet Julie Kjestrup, a powerful voice shaping sustainable building policy as both VELUX’s head of policy and president of Efficient Buildings Europe. 🔆 Happy to see that last week, the 𝗘𝘂𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗮𝗻 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝗹𝗶𝗮𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁'𝘀 𝗽𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝘀𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 underscored the pivotal role of #EnergyEfficiency in shaping an #affordable and #secure energy future! The discussions highlighted that enhancing energy efficiency is not only a cornerstone for reducing consumption but also a strategic move towards energy security. 📢 As Commissioner Jørgensen aptly stated: “𝘖𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘢𝘭𝘭, 𝘣𝘦𝘵𝘸𝘦𝘦𝘯 𝘯𝘰𝘸 𝘢𝘯𝘥 2040, 𝘸𝘦 𝘤𝘢𝘯 𝘴𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘶𝘱 𝘵𝘰 𝘌𝘜𝘙 2.5 𝘵𝘳𝘪𝘭𝘭𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘰𝘯 𝘧𝘰𝘴𝘴𝘪𝘭 𝘧𝘶𝘦𝘭 𝘪𝘮𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘵𝘴 𝘣𝘺 𝘥𝘦𝘱𝘭𝘰𝘺𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘧𝘢𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘳 𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘳𝘦𝘯𝘦𝘸𝘢𝘣𝘭𝘦 𝘦𝘯𝘦𝘳𝘨𝘺, 𝘣𝘺 𝘣𝘦𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘮𝘰𝘳𝘦 𝘦𝘯𝘦𝘳𝘨𝘺 𝘦𝘧𝘧𝘪𝘤𝘪𝘦𝘯𝘵, 𝘣𝘺 𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘵𝘳𝘰𝘭𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘨𝘢𝘴 𝘮𝘢𝘳𝘬𝘦𝘵𝘴 𝘣𝘦𝘵𝘵𝘦𝘳, 𝘣𝘺 𝘪𝘮𝘱𝘭𝘦𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘭𝘦𝘨𝘪𝘴𝘭𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵'𝘴 𝘢𝘭𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘥𝘺 𝘣𝘦𝘦𝘯 𝘮𝘢𝘥𝘦 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘣𝘺 𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘯𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘦𝘯𝘦𝘳𝘨𝘺 𝘴𝘺𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘮𝘴 𝘮𝘶𝘤𝘩 𝘣𝘦𝘵𝘵𝘦𝘳 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘯 𝘪𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘤𝘢𝘴𝘦 𝘵𝘰𝘥𝘢𝘺.” We also support MEP Thomas Pellerin-Carlin’s statement that “𝘞𝘦, 𝘌𝘶𝘳𝘰𝘱𝘦𝘢𝘯𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 21𝘴𝘵 𝘤𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘺, 𝘬𝘯𝘰𝘸 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘦𝘤𝘰𝘭𝘰𝘨𝘺 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘦𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘰𝘮𝘺 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘵𝘸𝘰 𝘴𝘪𝘥𝘦𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘴𝘢𝘮𝘦 𝘤𝘰𝘪𝘯. Read what our Head of EU Policy Rémi Collombet-Gourdon shared with Emmanuelle Causse on the EPBD recast! Check the post below and read the full interview 👇 📰 #EnergyEfficiency #EfficientBuildings #Buildings
Happy to share a quick read in which Emmanuelle Causse and I discuss the challenges and opportunities of the EPBD recast. 3 short points from my side: 1) Energy renovations deliver day to day affordability and healthier buildings 2) The Commission and National Governments must now focus on the enabling framework e.g. stable national requirements and support schemes, access to private investments, reliability of tools (EPCs, renovation passports) and skills. 3) Now is the time for stakeholders to engage at the national level as governments are preparing their National Building Renovation Plans Efficient Buildings Europe will remain active throughout the EPBD implementation phase to empower national civil servants and stakeholders. Join us on 19/03 to discuss Minimum Energy Performance Standards with policymakers in our latest webinar (link below)
