About us
The European Federation for Services to Individuals (EFSI) was established in 2006 as the EU sectoral federation representing national trade associations and companies involved in the provision and development of personal and household services in Europe. The EFSI brings national federations and associations as well as private companies together. Through its members, the EFSI is present in 22 EU members states. As such, it gives voice to millions of providers and users of personal and household services. The EFSI members offer services that improve the quality of daily life and enable people to better balance their professional and personal life. Members also take part in social benefits programs management and issuance of service vouchers. Those services include: •home services (housework, ironing, gardening, small repair work, etc.) as well as help on administrative tasks and services at home, delivery of food, •child care services including all kind of services: nursery, nanny, shared childcare, holiday centres, baby sitting, etc, •tutoring (school help, IT assistance etc.), •services to enable disabled, dependants and elderly people to continue to live in their own home. 📌 Last July, EFSI's Director, Aurélie Decker had the pleasure to participate in the Seminar "Políticas y sistemas de cuidado - Experiencias desde América Latina" held in Medellín. 🇨🇴 🇨🇱 🇺🇾 The event gathered key stakeholders from Columbia, Chile and Uruguay. They shared the views that care is increasingly a protagonist on the public agenda, given that it should be understood as a right and it is an issue that calls for co-responsibility. In her video message, Aurélie Decker presented the #PHServices sector in Europe and its main challenges namely fighting undeclared work and guaranteeing decent work. European and national-level initiatives aiming at tackling these were highlighted. 💡Interested in learning more about the care sector and its challenges in Latin America? 📌Report (in Spanish): https://lnkd.in/ezh8KQ7k 📌Recording: https://lnkd.in/eY8QpRDs 🙏 Thanks again Andrea Londoño Sánchez for inviting us.

📣 We are happy to share the publication of our member DOMINA - Associazione Nazionale Famiglie Datori di Lavoro Domestico, the European Dossier Series n.3. Don’t miss out on the analyses of what is the current Status of Care Work in Europe, including a snapshot of the current state of the sector by examining multiple factors, anticipating future needs, and planning concrete actions. DOMINA - Associazione Nazionale Famiglie Datori di Lavoro Domestico, both in Italy and in Europe wants to establish a stable dialogue and initiate shared methodologies with institutions and stakeholders from all Member States in order to: • combat undeclared work in the sector; • outline common key actions to promote employment balance; • restore dignity to a vital sector for Europe; 👉Care work often drives the inclusion of foreign workers and female employment, with significant economic and social impacts. Therefore, it is necessary to adopt collective bargaining agreements, promote social dialogue, tackle undeclared work, and, above all, have human rights-compliant hiring practices. 📘 Please find here the full publication. https://lnkd.in/dsbrmhT

We welcome Ursula von der Leyen's re-election as President of the European Commission. EFSI looks forward to following the President von der Leyen's engagements on social fairness, by putting forward a New Action Plan for the implementation of the European Social Pillar, increasing Collective Bargaining and strengthen the European Dialogue, as well as to tackle Skills and Labour Shortages, and continue the progress on Women's Rights, by reconciling care and career in their lives! We hope that her work as president of the European Commission will advance the domestic and home care sector, for a more progressive and sustainable society for all! 👉 EFSI's Memorandum "5 Recommendations towards a "Social Caring Europe": moving forward with the recognition of the PHS sector in the EU policymaking": https://lnkd.in/ecbhFuhh #europeanelections #europeancommission #caresector #PHS

Yesterday, EFSI had a great time in Paris for the annual Congress of Fédésap. From panels discussions to moving testimonies from services users and employees, the day rightly highlighted the profound human value & societal impact of #PHServices. 👉 Here are a few takeways of the various discussions: - instruments such as #CIFAM should be promoted for enhanced access to services, focusing on work-life balance for families with youch children and family carers, - reforming #LTC policies' financing with the aim to provide affordable user-centred services accross various housing options and territories is extremely complex. One could not avoid involving both public and private stakeholders into the discussion, - public authorities must reduce red-tape, simplify reporting processes and enhance data collection, - #IA offers many opportunties to the sector, from operational management to new tools and robotics. 👏 Kudos for the great event and new campaign on the attractiveness of PHS occupations. 🛑 Today, about 18 EU-level organisations issued a Joint Statement calling for Full Transparency in the Implementation of the European Care Strategy! 2 years after the 2022 Council Recommendation on access to affordable high-quality long-term care and the broader European Care Strategy launch, EU Member States are to give national reports on long-term care strategies. Our coalition urges the European Commission and Member States to ensure that all of them are delivered within the deadlines set by the Recommendation, and made publicly available online through national government and European Commission websites. 💪This is the first step to guarantee the transparency and openness needed for the successful implementation of the European Care Strategy, and to enable engagement and oversight by civil society organisations and social partners at both the EU and national levels!
