  • A faceless street artist has shockingly defaced a wall in #Bergen, #Norway, with an image of #AnneFrank draped in a #Palestinian keffiyeh. This outrageous depiction that links Israel with #NaziGermany and features a Holocaust victim in such a manner is not just a distortion—it’s a blatant and inflammatory attack on historical truth. Such actions are not mere criticisms; they are alarmingly antisemitic and deeply offensive, threatening to obliterate the very memory of the Holocaust. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- #BringThemHomeNow #NeverAgainIsNow #NotOnMyWatch Photo credit: https://lnkd.in/e_5Rpuhe Linkedin: @european-jewish-association Instagram: @ejassociation Facebook: @ejassociation X: @EJAssociation Youtube: https://lnkd.in/et5r_Hkw

  • #Today, on July 25, 1938, a dark chapter in human history deepened with the ruling of the "Reichsärzteordnung" (Reich Physician Law) in #Nazi #Germany. This evil decree, a product of the Nazi regime's escalating campaign of antisemitism, delivered a blow to Jewish doctors, stripping them of their right to treat non-Jewish patients. This was not merely a bureaucratic manoeuvre; it was a calculated move to further ostracise and degrade the Jewish community, driving a wedge of hatred and discrimination deeper into the fabric of society. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- The European Jewish Association, based in the political heart of the European Union – Brussels, advocates for and represents the interests of hundreds of Jewish communities and partner organisations across Europe. • On July 24th, 1922, a crucial event for #Jewish history happened when the League of Nations approved the #BalfourDeclaration. This 1917 declaration by the #British government supported the creation of a home for Jewish people. The #LeagueofNations' approval gave this idea global support and paved the way for the creation of the #State of #Israel in 1948. This recognition was a major victory for Jewish hopes and efforts to establish a homeland. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- The European Jewish Association, based in the political heart of the European Union – Brussels, advocates for and represents the interests of hundreds of Jewish communities and partner organisations across Europe. • The Fast of Tammuz is a Jewish fast day commemorating the breach of Jerusalem's walls before the Second Temple's destruction. This solemn day, observed on the 17th of Tammuz in the Hebrew calendar, marks the beginning of a three-week mourning period leading up to Tisha B'Av, commemorating the destruction of the First and Second Temples. The Fast of Tammuz is characterised by dawn-to-dusk fast and special prayers, reflecting on the historical tragedies and fostering a spirit of repentance and reflection among the Jewish community. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- The European Jewish Association, based in the political heart of the European Union – Brussels, advocates for and represents the interests of hundreds of Jewish communities and partner organisations across Europe. • On July 22, 1944, the world witnessed an unparalleled horror with the liberation of the Majdanek concentration camp by Soviet forces. This event exposed the unspeakable atrocities committed by the Nazis in one of their most brutal extermination camps, located near Lublin, Poland. Majdanek was a hellish site of mass murder, where tens of thousands of Jews, along with political prisoners and Soviet POWs, were slaughtered in the most gruesome ways imaginable. As the Soviet troops stormed the camp, they uncovered gas chambers, crematoria, and mountains of corpses, along with thousands of skeletal survivors teetering on the brink of death. The sheer scale of the horror defied comprehension, revealing the depths of Nazi depravity. This shocking discovery delivered a jolt to the Allied forces and the entire world, laying bare the full extent of the Holocaust’s brutality. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- The European Jewish Association, based in the political heart of the European Union – Brussels, advocates for and represents the interests of hundreds of Jewish communities and partner organisations across Europe. • On July 22, 1942, a horrifying chapter in human history unfolded as the Nazis launched the mass deportation of Jews from the Warsaw Ghetto to the Treblinka extermination camp. This monstrous event, known as the "Great Action" (Grossaktion Warschau), was a critical step in the Nazis' terrifying Final Solution, their diabolical plan to obliterate the Jewish population of Europe. The Nazis aimed to annihilate the ghetto, ruthlessly deporting its inhabitants to face immediate death. With chilling efficiency, over 5,000 Jews were herded daily from the ghetto to Treblinka, where they were mercilessly killed in gas chambers. By the end of September 1942, approximately 265,000 Jews had been heartlessly deported and slaughtered. The ghetto, already a hellscape of overcrowding, starvation, and rampant disease, was plunged into even deeper horror and despair. In the face of systematic genocide, the remaining Jews in the Warsaw Ghetto were forced into a desperate fight for survival. The Jewish Fighting Organization (Żydowska Organizacja Bojowa; ŻOB) was born out of this nightmare, led by courageous individuals like Mordechai Anielewicz. The ŻOB and other groups began to prepare for armed resistance against their Nazi oppressors. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- The European Jewish Association, based in the political heart of the European Union – Brussels, advocates for and represents the interests of hundreds of Jewish communities and partner organisations across Europe.
