About us

EBAA's mission is to enable responsible, sustainable growth for business aviation, enhancing connectivity and creating opportunities. Business Aviation provides closely tailored, flexible, point to point air transportation for individuals, governments, businesses and local communities in the most time-efficient way possible. It generally refers to an on-demand industry that consists of a mixture of commercial and non-commercial services that encompasses everything from charter to corporate and emergency medical flights. Business Aviation makes people and businesses more efficient and contributes to connectivity and opportunities. Business Aviation is about the nature of the service provided, not about the size or type of the aircraft. It is both technologies neutral and open to new technologies.

Updates

  • EBAA and GAMA are pleased to launch their Policy Manifesto for the 2024 - 2029 legislative term EBAA and the General Aviation Manufacturers Association (GAMA) have published their manifesto for the 2024-2029 European legislative term, highlighting their commitment to driving a sustainable, competitive and safe aviation sector in partnership with the next European Commission and Members of the European Parliament. Our Secretary General Holger Krahmer commented, “We are proud to share our manifesto. We stand ready to engage with all stakeholders and continue being the bridge between the European business aviation industry and policymakers. By focusing on our three key policy pillars, we look forward to advancing discussions on solutions that will facilitate our members' uptake of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) and ensure a fair, non-discriminatory playing field for business aviation, granting equal access to airports and financing to develop net-zero propulsion technologies”. • EBAA Responds to Greenpeace Report, Challenging Misleading Approach to Calculating "Pleasure Flight” The European Business Aviation Association (EBAA) acknowledges the recently published Greenpeace report, which focuses on business aviation flights to holiday destinations.    The report bases its conclusions on data from 45 airports labelled as hubs catering to seasonal travellers. Yet many of these—such as Geneva, Salzburg, and Rome Ciampino—experience consistent business aviation traffic year-round, with little to no seasonality. EBAA, therefore, refutes the assumption that traffic figures at these airports are driven mainly by holiday and/or vacation travel.   Moreover, business aviation connects 1,400 other European airports, with two-thirds of these destinations unserved by commercial airlines. The activity at these so-called "holiday destinations" represented less than 20% of all business aviation movements in 2023. This clearly shows that business aviation is about much more than just leisure travel. Besides providing an efficient transport solution to businesses and governments, business aviation contributes to saving lives by operating approximately 70,000 flights per year within Europe.   Also, EBAA notes that flying to a Mediterranean destination in summer does not automatically equate to a leisure trip—there are often valid business reasons. And for those trips that do involve luxury travel, these travellers contribute significantly to local economies, especially in regions that depend heavily on tourism.   Instead of advocating for a ban on private jets—which would jeopardise almost 500,000 jobs and €100 billion in economic value for the EU—we should work together to accelerate the adoption of SAF and continue supporting innovation as a solution to decarbonisation, as highlighted by the Draghi report.  Many business aviation operators are already contributing to EU initiatives aimed at cutting emissions, such as the EU Emissions Trading System (ETS) for aviation and the RefuelEU mandate. The European business aviation sector is fully committed to doing its part to reduce the climate impact of its operations, in accordance with Green Deal objectives. In fact, new innovative propulsion technologies such electric, hybrid and hydrogen aircaft are being tested by business aviation companies and will later be implemented by the entire aviation sector on larger airframes.   Business aviation is about creating connectivity, supporting local economies, and advancing sustainability. Let’s focus on solutions that balance economic needs with environmental responsibility.   Holger Krahmer #BusinessAviation #Sustainability #Decarbonisation #Aviation #EconomicImpact #Innovation #SAF

  • EBAA Secretary General Outlines the Future Path for Business Aviation in Europe at JETNET IQ Summit in New York. At the panel titled "Accelerating Forward: Re-Imagining Advocacy, Communications, and Lobbying in an Evolving Business Aviation Environment," Holger Krahmer, EBAA Secretary General, was joined by leaders from major global aviation associations, including Kurt Edwards, IBAC, Ed Bolen, National Business Aviation Association, Peter Bunce, General Aviation Manufacturers Association, and Ali Ahmed Alnaqbi, MEBAA (Middle East and North Africa Business Aviation Association). Here are the crucial points addressed by Holger: ✈️Highlighting Societal Benefits: It's vital we better communicate to policymakers and the public the societal added value of business aviation. ✈️The unfair treatment of business aviation in the taxonomy regulation must cease. 🍃Support for SAF: To enhance SAF market penetration, incentives for both supply and demand, especially through a book & claim system, are necessary. 🏛️Upcoming Slot Regulation: As we approach the revision of the slot regulation, fair consideration for business aviation is essential. ✈️Non-CO2 Emissions: Engaging in discussions on regulating non-CO2 emissions in aviation is becoming increasingly important. Promoting Sustainability: 🤝Emphasizing zero-emission paths and sustainability more vigorously is critical. The 'Climbing. Fast.' initiative is instrumental in this effort in Europe. Maintaining a unified voice as a global business aviation community is key, as shown by EBAA successful collaboration on the joint policy manifesto with GAMA and the impactful new Eco Impact study. #event #businessaviation #regulation #EU #EBAA #associations #ClimbingFast #SAF

  • Draghi Pushes for EU Regulatory Overhaul: Prioritise Competitive Sectors, Protect European Businesses from Global Pressure This report serves as a wake-up call for the European Union to address its prolonged decline in competitiveness and take immediate action. Among the sectors assessed, aviation’s strengths and weaknesses are thoroughly examined in the transport section, with proposed solutions to enhance its competitiveness while maintaining a focus on decarbonisation goals. EBAA's recently published policy manifesto for the 2024–2029 legislative term calls for the same approach outlined in Draghi's report. Our manifesto presents EU policymakers with a clear vision of how business aviation supports European competitiveness and offers sector-specific recommendations to accelerate the adoption of SAF and promote the development of cutting-edge zero-emission solutions, among other proposals. These are the highlights of our policy manifesto that we encourage policymakers to take into consideration to shape future EU policies in aviation: ✅ Safeguarding a competitive and fair European single Market for business aviation operators, maintaining a level playing field in terms of access to airports and airspace for all airspace users. ✅ Granting business aviation support to reach its decarbonisation targets by simplifying its access to SAF through a book-and-claim system and including the sector within the EU Taxonomy. ✅ Ensuring innovative companies have adequate funding available in the face of international competition. We believe that business aviation, as the most innovative segment of aviation, can play a decisive role in driving sustainability and competitiveness in European aviation, addressing several challenges identified by Draghi’s report.
