📢Translations for ESMA’s Guidelines on funds’ names are out 📗 With these guidelines, first published in May, the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) lays out expectations for how funds can use sustainability-related terms in their names to improve clarity and prevent #greenwashing. 📅 Now that the translations into all EU languages are complete, the next steps are: 📍 By 21 October 2024: national competent authorities must disclose to ESMA whether they implement the guidelines, whether they plan do to so in the future, or whether they will not implement them.  📍 21 November 2024: The guidelines begin applying to new funds.   📍 21 May 2025: The guidelines also begin applying to existing funds.  👉 For a breakdown of the main requirements, see our summary here: https://lnkd.in/eBH_qcs8 👉 Find the translations here: https://lnkd.in/d8rhpR3f

📢 Call for investors & other sustainability information users to attend EFRAG workshop on listed SME sustainability standards 🔍 EFRAG is organising an online workshop on listed SME sustainability standards (#ESRS LSME). The workshop is aimed at #investors and other #users of #sustainability #information to discuss whether the revised LSME would meet investors' needs and gather technical input to refine the standards. 📌Following a public consultation earlier this year, EFRAG significantly simplified its draft proposals for sustainability reporting standards applicable to listed SMEs. 📄EFRAG now seeks feedback on whether the revised LSME standards would cause undue loss of information for investors and users of LSME sustainability statements. 📆 The workshop is planned for the first half of September, with the precise date to be confirmed by EFRAG. ⚠ Eurosif is concerned with the EFRAG’s decision to completely change the approach to LSME standard from building it based on the standard for large companies to aligning it with the voluntary standard for SME (VSME). 💡 The LSME standards will apply to companies with securities listed on EU Regulated Markets. These companies are subject to the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (#CSRD). Creating widely diverging standards for companies listed on the same market venues will reduce comparability and usability of the disclosures and create investor protection concerns. 🌱 This change would impact the value chain information which would affect negatively affect #sustainability disclosures of large companies and financial institutions. 📢 Eurosif calls on #investors to manifest their interest to participate to this workshop and share their view on the revised LSME standards. 📄 The European Commission publishes an FAQ on the implementation of EU corporate sustainability reporting rules. 💡 This FAQ provides clarifications on how to apply the #CorporateSustainabilityReportingDirective (CSRD) in practice, including: 📌 Which companies are in scope (including which non-EU undertakings), exemption rules, and the application dates of reporting requirements. 📌 Which set of #EuropeanSustainabilityReportingStandards (ESRS) should be used, and their provisions for reporting on companies' value chain. 📌 How these rules align with other EU disclosure requirements applicable to the same companies, such as Taxonomy-alignment under Article 8 of the Taxonomy Regulation. 📌 How auditors and assurers should be appointed and how their assessments should be included in the sustainability statement. 📌 In which format and language should the sustainability statement be drafted, and what is the deadline for its publication. 📌 For financial institutions reporting under the #SFDR, the FAQ confirms that the calculation of Principal Adverse Impacts (PAIs) can exclude indicators identified as non-material by investee companies. 🌱 Sustainable investors expect EU companies to provide quality and reliable sustainability-related disclosures and to perform robust evaluations of what information is relevant to disclose (double materiality assessment). 📈 Investors need this information to make informed investment decisions to finance a #just #transition and prepare their own #sustainability-related disclosures. 📆 Next steps: for the largest (over 500 employees) EU companies, the first sustainability statements under the CSRD shall be published in 2025. 🔗 Read the European Commission FAQ here: https://lnkd.in/du_Y7dFX 🔗 Read Eurosif positions on corporate sustainability reporting here: https://lnkd.in/eD3Ei7Nh
