💡 Our Investor Strategies Programme Director Mahesh Roy spoke in the first of a series of interviews from Net Zero Investor on stewardship in private markets and we're grateful for the opportunity to share our research. 📣 Mahesh outlined how stewardship and engagement strategies can be employed and how investors can appropriately use their influence to encourage decarbonisation down to the portfolio company level. 📝 We lay out our recommendations for the private equity and private debt asset classes as part of our Net Zero Investment Framework (NZIF) 2.0. "Private market investors have the money, capacity, technical knowledge, and most importantly, agility, to be owners that engage meaningfully with companies on decarbonisation. The integration of climate change considerations into investment strategies and processes is crucial for both value creation and risk management in a world in transition. So, when investors exit private markets investments, the portfolio companies they have worked with will be better aligned with the changing world in which they operate." 🔎 "The Physical Climate Risk Assessment Methodology (PCRAM) is a key way for investors and a wider ecosystem of actors like multilateral development banks and development finance institutions to take action on how assets and the systems they operate in can be resilient to physical climate risks like flooding or other extreme weather." 🙌 Our Senior Programme Manager on Adaptation and Resilience Anne Chataigné spoke on a panel last week about the value of climate risk data in emerging markets and developing economies. She highlighted that, while physical climate presents challenges, increasing understanding of the investment opportunities for return and benefits is changing perceptions and engagement. 🤝 The panel also featured great insights and discussion from Karena Vaughan (Fathom) and Luke Thompson (Arup), moderated by Alexandra Barnes (British Expertise International). 🤝 This included discussions on how to tackle barriers which prevent access to the investment, growth capital or commercial insurance needed to tackle physical climate threats and their associated risks. #PCRAM #ClimateChange #Adaptation #Resilience
