As we bid farewell to our intern from IMFSE, Liliana Martinez , this week marks the conclusion of her journey with #FRISSBE. During her time with us, Liliana Martinez immersed herself in a wide range of activities, from observing experiments to visiting Knauf Insulation Slovenija R&D facilities. She built meaningful connections with our team, and even managed to explore Slovenia, Trieste, and Venice. Liliana Martinez recently presented a comprehensive report on her internship experience, highlighting key learnings, the positives she encountered, and the challenges she faced. A couple of things that I am proud of !! - IMFSE edition “Some burning questions” this was the title of my poster that was displayed during the IMFSE graduation ceremony part of my final master thesis “ Fire Toxicity And Vent Gas Hazards In Electric And Hydrogen Vehicles: Flammability, Toxicity, And The Role Of Ventilation” . As you see I didn't mind being judged because of this unorthodox poster.Even though it looks silly , I kind of put a lot of thought into this because my goal was to communicate the idea in the simplest and most fun way possible . Obviously being in Belgium the best form of delivery was a comic strip 🙂 which was Inspired from the greatest racing movie ever -- CARS ( just kidding). I am a pretty bad artist so the illustrations are the courtesy of my dear friend Neelima Paul who gave this poster its soul. Science communication, especially something like fire science needs to be broken down into simple bite-size pieces of information that can be digested by laymen and I also feel that we are responsible for debunking myths and educating people for a better tomorrow. This is something that I always aspire to and hopefully I can adhere to. I haven't published anything yet but I really hope I can publish a fun paper someday. Another priceless treasure that I am super proud of is the copy of Drysdale signed by all the program directors of IMFSE ( I am Thanos with all the infinity stones ). I am Thrilled to announce that I have completed my Master's degree as an Erasmus Mundus Scholar in the International Master of Science in Fire Safety Engineering (IMFSE ) program. The IMFSE program, hosted by UGent, The University of Edinburgh , Lund University, and Universitat Politecnica de Catalunya, was an enriching experience both academically and personally. It gave me the chance to meet people from around the world, discover new cultures, and learn from diverse perspectives, all of which have helped me grow as a person. My thesis, "Parametric Numerical Study on Factors Influencing the Oscillatory Behavior of Fires in Small Scale Mechanically Ventilated Enclosures," was a significant achievement and an excellent way to finalize this rigorous program. The graduation ceremony on June 20th was a memorable celebration of this achievement. I'm filled with enthusiasm as I step into the next phase of my professional career. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who supported me, especially my supervisors Bart Merci, Tarek Beji, my advisor Mingcian Hong and the IMFSE committee board for this incredible opportunity Bart Merci Rory Hadden Enrico Ronchi and Eulalia Planas.

Special thanks to all the IMFSE team for portraying in this gift book the many memories, thoughts and feelings from all of us who became this worldwide family. It seems yesterday since I had the opportunity to learn and enjoy from it but quite some time has passed and as I´ve perceived, the family grows larger and wiser. I am thrilled to announce that I graduated with great distinction (Magna Cum Laude) from the prestigious International Master of Science in Fire Safety Engineering IMFSE. The program is coordinated by Ghent University, The University of Edinburgh, Lund University, and Universitat Politecnica de Catalunya as main partners. This allowed me to meet, learn from, and connect with people from around the world and with varied expertise for which I am deeply grateful and honoured. I am sincerely thankful to Bart Merci, Rory Hadden, Enrico Ronchi, and Eulalia Planas, whose efforts and guidance as local coordinators at each university are reflected in the great success and top-notch quality of the program. Much of such quality is also due to the people involved in the fire safety field who are always willing to help, contribute, and share with each other. Thus, I want to thank all my professors, staff, colleagues/friends/classmates, and people involved in the program for enhancing this journey and allowing me to make the most of it. This was definitely one of the most enriching experiences of my life. Huge thanks go to my thesis supervisors Bart Merci and Georgios Maragkos for their time and invaluable help towards the completion of this journey's last stage. Likewise, special thanks go to Grunde Jomaas and the FRISSBE team for welcoming me to Slovenia and having me in their laboratory to perform a research internship project that boosted my skills and was the perfect complement to my formative experience. It has been an honour to have been granted Interim registration for Chartered Engineer. This takes me one step closer to my route to Chartership! I am ever so grateful to IMFSE for providing me with the required academic knowledge to contribute as a fire engineer in the industry. I would also like to thank my company, The Fire Surgery, for providing me with invaluable opportunities towards growing and excelling as a competent fire engineer.

So happy for Andrea Lucherini for this very much deserved award. Blessed to have enjoyed Andrea as postdoc in our team at Universiteit Gent and to still enjoy collaboration through FRISSBE and with Andrea as lecturer in our IMFSE program. Congratulations, Andrea!
