Check ➡ it ➡ out... 😊 Managing glucose control in the ICU *used to be* challenging and scary due to patient variability. 🌈 But with Glucomeo™ and its patented digital twin technology, clinical staff have access to real time treatment effect predictions on blood glucose levels for the next 3 hours. This allows them to easily assess the risks associated with any adjustments to insulin or carbohydrates inputs. 💪 These predictions are fully personalized based on patient-specific identified insulin resistance and predicted variability... Nurse can save their patient's lives with confidence! 😉 🤖 AI *is* saving lives in healthcare: the future is now! ⬇ In the video below, clinical staff want to stop maintenance infusion but this could lead to hypoglycaemia. Nurses are free to chose and balance the risks according to their very own clinical judgement. #GlucoseControl #CriticalCare #Hyperglycemia #Insulin #PrecisionMedicine #DigitalTwin #ICU #Healthcare #Hypoglycemia

CEO chez Wallonia Export and Investment Agency (AWEX) et Wallonia Brussels International (WBI)

Merci à la Dream Team mixte Wallonia Export & Investment Agency, WBCampus, Wallonie-Bruxelles Design Mode (WBDM)   PS : Et bravo à nos signataires Neobulles - Distribution & Innovation ; Rolls-Royce Power Systems AG ; Insilicare ; N-SIDE ; @John Martin's ; @ULB. ; Lhoist Et je ne doute pas un seul instant que d'autres contrats et MOU suivront dans les mois et années à venir au vu de la qualité de nos participants !

#BEmissionNOR 🇧🇪 🇳🇴 : What a great (too short) moment shared between norvegian and belgian inspiring panelists on #AI in #Healthcare during the first day of the Belgian Economic Mission in #Oslo, #Norway. How is AI a game changer in healthcare? What are the challenges we developping AI? Can we trust AI? Many great questions asked by our valuable moderator, Nis Johannsen. Glad I had the chance to mention how the REALM_EU project can bring significant means to assess such models and help in the certification process. Many thanks to the Belgian Foreign Trade Agency (BFTA), Wallonia Export & Investment Agency, Wallonie-Bruxelles International (WBI) and Mehdy Oozeer for organizing this event, and to the University of Liège for giving me the opportunity to be present here to show how our research team headed by Thomas Desaive is at the forefront of biotech in Wallonia & the world. 💡Can't wait to continue these fruitfull discussions with (from left to right) Wesley Caple, Jon Espen Ingvaldsen, PhD, Christophe Deben, and Benoit Macq.

Unlocking the potential of digital twins, predictive AI, and in-silico medicine has revolutionized insulin management and glucose control in the ICU. 👀 Take a look at this compelling example, showcasing the impact on a challenging patient: ⬅ On the left, we have glucose control statistics derived from real clinical data, managed under a non-personalized, table-based protocol - the current local standard. ➡ On the right, we see the statistics from this patient's digital twin, managed with Glucomeo in a fully personalized manner. 😮 The results are outstanding: the time spent in the normoglycemic range (= target band of 80-145 mg/dL) skyrockets from 4% to 43% 🚀. Meanwhile, severe hyperglycemia plummets from 64% to 20%. And all of this achieved without an increased risk of hypoglycemia, and with a similar (to better) clinical workload. ❓ Does it have to be so challenging to treat patients effectively? 👉 Not with the right tools 🛠! 🤗 Healthcare professionals can now treat patients confidently, without the looming fear of hypoglycemia. It's a game-changer for patient care ! 💪 #glucosecontrol #digitaltwin #criticalcare #AI #insulin #hyperglycemia #hypoglycemia Insilicare

⁉ Did you know that there is a 50% chance you will need Glucomeo™, the autopilot I was talking about in my previous post on glucose control in critical care? Yup, that’s right, about 50%, even if you are in perfect health condition… ⁉ ℹ In short, due to their critical conditions (following for example a major trauma, surgery, or infection), medications, and often poor nutritional support, about half of critically ill patients experience stress-induced hyperglycemia, sometimes called stress-induced diabetes. This type of “diabetes” is not chronic but rather a transient state that resolves when metabolic stress diminishes. 😨 However, in some cases, hyperglycemia may persist and contribute to complications such as organ failure, infections, delayed wound healing, and longer hospital stays. It is thus essential to administer insulin to control these abnormally elevated blood sugar levels. Safe and effective control will reduce morbidity, mortality, and the length of stay in the intensive care unit – and thus healthcare costs. 🤔 Okay, but why is Glucomeo™ important? Well, due to metabolic variability, glucose control is hard to achieve safely and effectively! It has been reported that over 50% of these patients do *NOT* receive effective and/or safe control. 🎯 With Glucomeo™, we provide insight into the best treatment option in a risk-based and fully personalized approach. We recommend a treatment with quantitative outcomes to healthcare professionals so they can better decide what is best for their patients, reducing the risk of hypo- and hyperglycemia, and thus complications.😌 🙃 How does it feel to know you will (hopefully) be treated safely based on how your body reacts to the treatment rather than some ad-hoc or fixed paper-based protocols lacking patient specificity and treating everyone the same uneffectively? #criticalcare #intensivecare #personalisedmedicine #glucosecontrol #digitaltwin #medicaldevice Insilicare

✈️🎯 Autopilot through the skies of glucose control in critical care 🎯✈️ ❓ More and more people are asking me about my work with blood glucose control and why it's important. So, I've been thinking of a fitting analogy to make it more relatable. ➡ Controlling glucose levels in critical care is akin to managing altitude during a complex flight. It's crucial to keep glucose levels within safe ranges, just like ensuring the aircraft arrives safely at its destination. However, various factors, such as weather conditions, air traffic, and aircraft damage, can lead to unforeseen scenarios that pilots must manage. The sheer volume of information and factors can make it challenging for pilots to make the right decisions, potentially resulting in a crash. Sometimes, flying a bit higher than necessary is the easiest choice, despite reducing fuel efficiency. ⚙ What I'm working on is like developing an autopilot system. It provides real-time insights and automatically suggests adjustments to healthcare professionals, ensuring glucose levels are safely and optimally managed despite external factors causing high variability. Everything is optimized based on each patient's response to treatment, ultimately improving outcomes. Not too high, not too low, right where it should be. ✨ Of course, it's not magic! This AI-based clinical decision support is a tool that should complement healthcare professionals' clinical judgment to ensure everything stays on track. In the end, it helps patients land softly where they should be. There are times when everything goes as planned and the autopilot system isn't needed. However, in critical situations, the autopilot becomes crucial, offering invaluable support. Yet, like any system, it's not infallible; it can also make mistakes. Despite the best efforts of both pilots and the autopilot system, there are instances where challenges persist. 🥇 Nonetheless, by integrating human expertise with advanced technology, with Insilicare, we strive to enhance patient care and navigate through complexities with greater precision and effectiveness. Everyone is winning ! #CriticalCare #GlucoseControl #MedTech #DigitalTwin
