#WMHD Today, 10 October, is World Mental Health Day. This year’s theme is "𝗜𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗧𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗣𝗿𝗶𝗼𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝘇𝗲 𝗠𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗲", a powerful topic for people with diabetes who often face challenges managing their condition in the workplace. Ideal, safe, healthy working environments create positive and productive settings favouring mental health. However, people with diabetes, wary of or having experienced stigma, are more likely to hide their condition from colleagues. This can lead to delaying or skipping treatment and monitoring, ultimately worsening their health. Stressful situations at work can also affect glucose levels, making diabetes management difficult. The good news is that employers are becoming aware of the human and business benefits of supporting all aspects of workplace well-being, including supporting employees with diabetes. Our blog explains more about the challenges people with diabetes face in the workplace, how an unsupportive work environment can impact their well-being and what employers, managers and co-workers can do to support their colleagues with diabetes. 👇 ✍ Did we leave something out? Let us know in the comments below. #diabeteslife #WMHD #WFMH #WorkplaceWellness World Federation for Mental Health SHRM AHRMIO PSHRA
