The secret's out! We’ve been working on a plastic alternative. And yes, it’s partly made of industrial hemp: 🌱 1. First we restore degraded or polluted soils with hemp. We make hemp fibers, and they become 50% of this biocomposite. 2. The other 50% part is recycled plastic. This way we fully avoid virgin oil. 3. This biocomposite looks like plastic. Behaves like plastic. Plugs into existing production process! You can make loads of things with it: crates, chairs, laptops, product stands, lighting… etc, etc, etc! 💻💡 Bonus point: it's fully circular! So at the end of life we can turn it into the same biocomposite again. ♻️ Curious to learn more? Reach out to us at Earth Plus and C-biotech! Link in comments👇

Scaling nature-based solutions to clean soils from pollution, remove CO2 and enable local circular economy.
About us
At +Earth+ we have a crazy vision! To create the largest soil & CO2 cleanup in history with nature. We scale nature-based solutions to clean soils from chemical pollution, remove CO2 and create local circular economy. Soil contamination impacts the food we eat, the air we breath, the water we drink. Over 3.2B people worldwide are already negatively affected (IPBES). If no action is taken, soil pollution will increasingly impact our ecosystems, health and economies. We aim to manage mid-low chemical soil pollution sites globally. Plants that we grow are very powerful at capturing CO2. From these plants we create safe bio-based circular materials to revolutionise construction. And reduce emissions for companies and cities. +Earth+ is a platform powered in partnership with C-biotech.

What if the walls of your next building could store carbon, reduce emissions, and be 100% recyclable? That’s exactly what Earth Plus and Elena Doms are doing with their hemp-based sandwich panels! 💡 What are they? These panels are made from hemp wood on the outside and mycelium-based insulation on the inside. They’re stronger than traditional wood, fully circular, and grow in just 4 months! 🌿 The benefits? These hemp-based panels are carbon negative, capturing CO2 and making construction a part of the climate solution. They also generate zero waste—at the end of their life, they’re fully repurposed or recycled, leaving nothing behind. This innovation makes sense on so many levels, and I just love it 😍 ⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯ Listen to the full episode of the Deep Seed podcast with Elena Doms to learn more about the amazing potential of hemp as a climate solution… and much more!

Few months ago I met François De Keuleneer and talked me about the disappearing river somewhere in Murcia. I triggered me so much that we contacted Alfonso Chico de Guzman to support him. Now it is happening: we want to restore glory in that valley. C-biotech hopes to make a shift there as well. Soon more info! What if you're a farmer and the river you depend on stops flowing? 💧 What if the land around you is slowly turning into a desert and you still want a future for your children? This is happening right now to Yanniek Marijn Schoonhoven and Alfonso Chico de Guzman, an amazing young couple from La Junquera Farm. Extreme droughts combined with short-profit farmers sucking the last drops from the aquifers are jeopardizing not only their future, but the future of the entire valley. 👉🏽 They have an ambitious plan to regenerate 30.000 hectares of land around the now dry river, to make the river flow again and to create a better future for locals and local farmers. They're going to need all the help they need: funding, infrastructure, help with communication, humanpower,... One of the things we're trying out is: Cannabis! Not the one making you high, but hemp to use as construction material and as a protein source. Frederik Verstraete and Elena Doms have taken the initiative with Earth Plus to prepare some test trials to check if hemp can help with the regeneration. Glad to be working together on this and we prepared 24 tiny testplots and tested 3 different hemp varieties. Irrigated and not irrigated. And a lot of different soil amendement strategies. Time will tell us what's going to work! Really had a great time together with Alfonso and team, using only manual tools to put the first seeds in the ground. New Episode 🌿 Elena Doms, co-founder of Earth Plus , shares how she’s using hemp to clean up Forever Chemicals (PFAs) from the environment while creating bio-based construction materials that are regenerative and carbon negative. I loved talking to Elena, she incredibly inspiring! This is a must-listen if you care about the future of agriculture, the environment, and innovative solutions to clean up our planet ❤️ My key takeaways: 🫧 Cleaning PFAs: hemp absorbs Forever Chemicals in the soils and brings it to its leaves. The leaves can then be processed at high temperature to destroy these chemicals. 🌱 Regenerating Soils: hemp has deep roots and is great at breaking up compaction, soaking up moisture, improving soil structure and increasing fertility! 🏗 Eco-products: harvested hemp can be used to create a wide range of eco-friendly products: building materials, textiles, paper, biochar, superfoods and more! 🔄 Carbon sequestration: Hemp doesn’t just clean soils—it locks carbon away for hundreds of years, helping combat climate change while regenerating land. Special mention to the people and organisations mentioned in this episode: Erik De Bruyn - Frederik Verstraete - C-biotech - Alfonso Chico de Guzman - Pesticide Action Network (PAN) Europe - Boyan Slat - Rich Stockdale PhD and everyone working on amazing solutions to regenerate our planet ❤️ ⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯ This episode was made possible thanks to Soil Capital, a company supporting #regenerativeagriculture by financially rewarding farmers who improve soil health and enhance climate resilience. ⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯⎯ Help this podcast grow in just a few clicks: 1️⃣ Follow Deep Seed for more inspiring stories 2️⃣ Leave us a 5-star review on your favorite podcast platform 🌟 Your support means the world! 💚 Raphael Esterhazy

Can we turn construction from a carbon emitter into a carbon sink? Yes, we can! Here is an example: These are sandwich panels - modular elements, used in various types of buildings. 1. Traditional one on the left: wood & fossil fuel-based insulation. Carbon emissions: 10-60kg CO2e/m2. 2. Newly developed one by C-biotech on the right: hemp wood & mycelium insulation. Carbon removal: -7.6kg CO2e/m2! Bonus points: it’s circular and it restores soils. Nature-based innovation for the win! 🌱🍄🟫 Curious to learn more? The start of a beautiful collaboration! Together with Louis De Jaeger we are going to clean land from ‘forever chemicals’ and design future-proof landscapes! We’ll work in several layers: - soil cleaning & regeneration; - water cycle regeneration; - removing CO2 through nature-based solutions and bio-based construction materials. That will directly contribute to the global goal of regenerating 550 million hectares of land. That’s the number we need to cool down the planet with 2C and make rivers flow again.
