Textile ETP

Today, Textile ETP published the Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda (SRIA) for the "Textiles of the Future" European Partnership. Developed in a collaborative effort involving hundreds of experts from across the European textile ecosystem, the SRIA identifies 13 strategic topics in 3 main priority areas: 🌿 Sustainable Materials & Clean Processes ♻ Digital Supply Chains & New Business Models  🏭 Advanced Manufacturing & High-performance Textiles The vision of the Partnership is to develop and demonstrate new technologies and innovative business models for the competitive manufacturing of safe and sustainable textile products. These products will be made from low-impact functional materials using clean and digitally connected processes within regional, circular, and fully traceable supply chains. This will promote quality jobs, industrial competitiveness, and responsible consumption in Europe. As a next step, dedicated calls for proposals will be launched under Cluster 4 of the Horizon Europe programme between 2025 and 2027, reflecting the priorities set out in the SRIA. In this initial phase, at least €60 million will be allocated by public and private stakeholders to core research and innovation actions and to support accelerated exploitation actions, including demonstration, pilot testing, new manufacturing facility setups, early market replication, and start-up creation. We also want to tackle social and technical challenges in the textile industry by implementing climate-neutral practices across four European regions 👕 With SOLSTICE, we are enhancing textile waste management with innovative solutions, such as smart sorting using online spectroscopy for precise waste classification and eco-efficient chemical recycling for textile polymers and plastics. By raising consumer awareness and developing new sorting methods, we also aim to transform textile waste into valuable resources and improve recycling efficiency. Operating in Prato, Catalonia, Berlin, and Grenoble, SOLSTICE's demonstrations serve as a living laboratory to test and refine our strategies in real-world settings. We are committed to fostering collaboration with local stakeholders and partners to drive scalable and replicable solutions for a circular textile economy. Developed during a collaborative workshop as part of the #RegioGreenTex Annual Consortium Meeting in Portugal in March 2024, the RegioGreenTex Wisdom Guide is designed to provide practical insights and actionable tips for textile recycling practitioners♻️ During the workshop, participants shared their strategies and solutions for common challenges related to the green transition.
