At today’s European Health Data Space event organised by EU Health and Food Safety and the Polish presidency of the Council of the European Union, experts will discuss how to unlock Europe’s health data future together. As Tomislav Sokol outlined, the secondary use of health data will be a revolution, turning health data into public goods and providing researchers with unprecedented access. He also noted that in order to fully implement it, we need an appropriate budget for infrastructure, training, and awareness raising. Further, Pero Ivanko pointed out that researchers need grants to test the infrastructure, the secure processing environment and data catalogues. The prompt implementation of the secondary use of health data is incredibly important for The Guild of European Research-Intensive Universities to unleash the full potential of shared health data, helping scientists develop new treatments for patients and improving the well-being of citizens in Europe.
