12 innovative ideas were presented in Mykolaiv and Ternopil, ranging from eco-friendly tableware to polyethylene boat production Participating companies from Mykolaiv and Ternopil presented the results of their projects during the final event of the Innovation Challenge acceleration programme. Innovation Challenge is a unique acceleration programme for Ukraine, implemented by the EU, the Government of Denmark, UNDP, and the BOOST impact acceleration programme team. To participate in the Challenge, 12 teams were selected in Mykolaiv and Ternopil who received comprehensive mentoring support and up to US$10,000 to implement their innovative ideas in the “blue” or “green” economy. The innovative teams came from different sectors and areas, including a company that repairs portal cranes used in shipbuilding, one that manufactures eco-friendly tableware, one that builds small polyethene vessels, and many more, but they all strive for the sustainable and responsible use of resources. 🔹 For example, a company from Ternopil has developed a digital live map of recycling centres. The map was integrated into the e-Ternopil application, which is popular among the city's residents and provides all kinds of municipal services. With Ecomap, residents can find places that will give a second life to recyclable materials with just a few clicks. 🔹 In Mykolaiv, an innovative system for automating irrigation in greenhouses and open ground was created under the programme. It will allow Ukrainian farmers to reduce water and electricity consumption, increase crop yields, and address the challenge of skilled labour shortages. 🇪🇺🇺🇳 The European Union (EU) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), together with the National Health Service of Ukraine (NHSU) and the ZDOROVI National Agency for Humanitarian Aid, have organized a series of five intensive training sessions entitled “The NHSU Hardening School.”   The two-day training event gathered 150 health care managers to enhance their personal and professional skills. Participants learned the algorithms of working with the NHSU at all stages — from submitting a contract proposal to receiving payment for services provided. They also reviewed successful cases of medical facilities operating within the Medical Guarantee Programme.   👩⚕️💭 Tetiana Diachenko, Head of the Voznesensk City Primary Health Care Centre, commented, “The training served as a platform for professional development, the analysis of both successful and challenging points, and improving contract management processes. The practical cases presented will enhance the efficiency of medical professionals, and we plan to actively implement these best practices in our work.”   After the training, most of the participants noted that they had acquired valuable knowledge and skills, which they are ready to apply in practice, and would recommend the course to their colleagues.   ℹ️ The school was organized as part of the flagship “EU4Recovery – Empowering Communities in Ukraine” partnership between UNDP and the EU. 📸 Photo credit: Serhii Oleksii Tishevskyi / UNDP in Ukraine   #EU4Recovery

🇪🇺🇺🇳 The European Union (EU) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Ukraine have completed a series of four training sessions entitled “Project Design: From Idea to Project” for representatives of social service providers from 11 oblasts of Ukraine.   During the training, 85 specialists developed approaches to planning and implementing social projects from setting objectives and identifying key activities to risk assessment and budgeting.   The knowledge gained will enable them to improve the social service delivery system, attract additional resources, and collaborate more efficiently with partners to implement sustainable solutions in communities. ✏️🤝 💭 Vitaliia Herasymova, Deputy Head of the Shulhynka Village Administration, commented: “The training exceeded all my expectations — a well-structured programme, the practical tasks, and professional support from the trainers allowed me not only to deepen my knowledge but also to gain valuable experience in teamwork. The skills I have acquired will help me implement social initiatives more efficiently to support the recovery and development of my community.” ℹ️ The series of training sessions was organized as part of the flagship “EU4Recovery – Empowering Communities in Ukraine” partnership between UNDP and the EU. 📸 Photo credit: Serhii Minenko / UNDP in Ukraine   #EU4Recovery

The October Hospital in Yafa’a District, Lahj, has long been a #lifeline for #maternal and #child care, but power shortages disrupted critical #services. 👩👧👦 👶 Through our Strengthening Institutional and Economic Resilience in Yemen (#SIERY) Project, local authorities installed #solar energy systems to power the obstetric health centre, ensuring reliable power for #surgeries, #incubators, and #vaccine storage. 🌞🏥 This will reduce delays in surgeries, improve #infant survival rates, and eliminate vaccine spoilage.
