Martello Re

The Charlotte Community and Charity Committee and Martello Re team members were proud supporters of Families Forward Charlotte's 8th annual Hearts for Hope Gala, a fundraising event for the many crucial programs and services the organization offers. "Martello Re’s commitment to community giving promotes goodwill, strengthens relationships, and ensures prosperity for those in the communities we serve,” said Kim Aldridge, Head of Corporate Administration. “We strive to support community partners, such as Families Forward Charlotte, that advance the aspirations and goals of such."

Our Bermuda Community and Charity Committee held its first-ever art contest with our partner school West Pembroke Primary, awarding the winning students with certificates and medals for their exceptional artwork and sponsoring a pizza party for everyone to enjoy.   Thanks to these creative and talented students, Martello Re’s offices will be decorated with new art in the new year. We’re excited to continue our collaborative, charitable work with the school in 2025. 

Earlier this month, Martello Re’s US/Charlotte Community and Charity Committee led a Financial Literacy Workshop in partnership with Sedgefield Middle School. As a stepping stone on their journey to financial literacy and planning for life after high school, the workshop introduced 41 enthusiastic students to basic financial tools and concepts such as creating and managing a budget, the importance of saving, and making confident financial decisions. Many thanks to our Community and Charity Committee members who volunteered their time and to our Head of Corporate Administration Kim Aldridge for attending and supporting the workshop. We would like to also thank our Workshop Facilitator Nick Hanewinckel for his outstanding presentation and for the knowledge and insights he shared with the students. We look forward to presenting similar workshops that make a positive impact in 2025.

To do our part for Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a group of Martello Re Bermuda employees participated in the annual BF&M Group Breast Cancer Awareness Walk, which supports the Bermuda Cancer and Health Centre’s invaluable work in prevention, detection, treatment, and support. This year’s campaign aimed to raise funds for a new mammogram machine, and we’re proud to have contributed to such a beneficial initiative that will give many members of our community access to high-quality care. #breastcancerawareness #bfmbreatcancerawarenesswalk #MartelloReGivesBack 

We are incredibly grateful to Martello Re for donating five laptops to support our scholars during First Gen Success programming sessions. These laptops will provide our students with hands-on learning experiences, expand access to essential resources, and foster collaboration on STEM projects. This summer, we had the pleasure of working with our first Martello Re interns in the Charlotte office. We’re proud of the excellent work they’ve accomplished during their time with us and would like to thank them for bringing their unique talents to our Investments, Actuarial, and Technology teams. We can’t wait to see what else you accomplish in the future!

This week, actuaries from Martello Re’s Bermuda team hosted an educational event for student members of Actuaries of Bermuda (AOB) The team shared their unique career stories, their advice around actuarial exams and internships, and insights into the day-to-day work of an actuary.
