I was an active 4-H leader with Russell County 4-H to give back to an association that helped me grow! Here to show our cattle- which my husband, myself and our daughter all learned tips in dairy club- I am also very proud to work for a company that has been a strong supporter of the 4-H program for many years..behind me is a perfect example of our future launch program to help today's youth become tomorrow's leaders! #mycompany #rbcagriculture #4hisforme #rbc

Tomorrow needs 4-H. Today, 4-H needs you. 4-H Canada's funding campaigning, emphasizing the importance of investing in 4-H youth programs to develop our next generation of leaders, gets to the heart of the universal 4-H movement. Having been a 4-H member since I was 8 years old, I can attest to the positive, life-changing impact this program has on thousands of lives across Canada every year. Coming from an urban non-agricultural background, 4-H bridged the gap to the world of farming, fostered my love for animals and showed me that I belong. Through farm tours and hands-on experiences to critically assess food systems, I learned about an industry I otherwise would have been completely disconnected from. This is a passion that I am following, continuing my education in Sustainable Agriculture and Environment at the University of British Columbia. 4-H Canada's Careers on the Grow Internship Program was particularly impactful for me, connecting me to work for Alberta Sugar Beet Producers last summer and allowing me to "learn to do by doing" through marketing, building social media campaigns and learning about Canada's sugar beet industry. 4-H taught me responsibility, communication, public speaking, how to care for animals and the importance of community and strong role models, essential skills and values that I am committed to instilling in the next generation through my role as a 4-H BC Ambassador and as a youth representative on the 4-H BC Provincial Council. 4-H has shaped me into who I am today and has been doing so for members across the country for over 110 years, equipping them with the skills they need to contribute to any sector or role they choose. I am and always will be proud to be a 4-Her. I encourage you to share or donate to the Tomorrow Needs 4-H, Today, 4-H Needs You campaign, if you can. Let's build our future together today. tomorrowneeds4h.ca

40% of farms in Canada are expected to change hands in the next ten years. So what are the next generation of farmers excited about? What obstacles are they facing? Understanding where farmers are at is critical in creating solutions that effectively address farmers' realities - whether that's creating educational tools to help solve the labour shortage or incentivizing climate-smart farming practices. Check out the latest episode of #TheAgPodcast where host Crystal Mackay chats with Katie Keddy and Audrey Morneau, two next-generation farmers, about what they're experiencing as their family farms transition. Life is never ‘easy’ to navigate. Now consider trying to navigate life as a youth in a rapidly evolving, post-pandemic world. A world with political unrest, climate crisis, opioid and mental health epidemics, with rapid innovation and technological advances, economic uncertainty, disconnection, isolation and AI. Where being your authentic self is often not embraced and often dangerous. This is the world in which today’s youth are growing up. Now, what if there was a program where youth were supported in discovering their sparks and encouraged to explore them? Where caring and supporting relationships were built with youth through youth-adult partnerships, and youth voice was encouraged and valued. What if this same program thoughtfully fostered belonging for everyone in a safe and inclusive space and created opportunities for hands-on learning and engagement in experiential ways? That program exists. It’s the 4-H program supported through 4-H Canada. Using a Positive Youth Development approach to programming, an approach grounded in science and research, 4-H is not only supporting youth navigate today’s world and the uncertainties of the future, 4-H is helping youth thrive now and along their journey in life. To keep doing this work, to keep supporting youth, to keep ensuring today’s youth have the opportunities that support their thriving, 4-H Canada needs your help. #TomorrowNeeds4H is not just any campaign. It’s one critical for today’s and tomorrow’s youth, to ensure they are both life and career ready. To ensure they thrive now and long into the future.
