Our team is stabilizing another portion of the riverbank to safeguard it from natural erosion. Teaming up with Leaf Ninjas Inc, we’re combining time-tested rip rap installation with innovative bio-engineering by using locally cut stakes, which will grow and anchor the bank with their resilient roots. This project goes beyond protecting the river and will also help it thrive. Looking forward to sharing more updates on this repeat collaboration with both Whispering Pines and Leaf Ninjas. Time to fall back safely! ⏰ Daylight Savings Time ends on Sunday, November 3rd, which means it's time to set those clocks back an hour! While adjusting the clock seems easy enough, our internal clocks may need a bit of help adjusting. As the days get darker, you might feel a bit sluggish, especially during your morning and evening commutes. Here are some quick tips from Acres' HSE team to help you 'fall back' safely: 1. Prep Your Body: Start going to bed 10-15 minutes earlier in the days leading up to the change. 2. Sleep Well: Aim for 8.5 hours each night. Even one hour less can affect your health! 3. Limit Screen Time: Ditch those screens an hour before bed for better sleep quality. 4. Stay Hydrated: Drink water to help fight fatigue. 5. Be Visible: Wear high-visibility apparel, especially in low-light conditions. 6. Workplace incidents – Workplace incidents increase after daylight savings. Take extra time to assess your work and work area before starting a task. 7. Be Honest: If you feel fatigue is impacting you negatively, please speak to your supervisor so they can adjust your task if needed. 8. Ensure all vehicle lights are working. Walking the walk! Our team is on the move with the Viscount Villa Deep Energy Retrofit project, having just completed a brand-new walkway. The redesigned walkway was an addition to this project and was constructed with forms and rebar to ensure strength and stand the test of time. Currently, we’re in the homestretch of this innovative pilot project for Kelson Group Property Management. The exterior siding, roof work, gas absorption heat pump (GAHP) connections, and landscaping are near completion. Say 'hay!' to our latest happy clients. 🐴 At Acres, there is no project that is too big or too small, and building community is just as important as building projects. Our team had the opportunity to support Critteraid Animal Sanctuary last week by repairing the horse shelter on site, right in time for the cooler temperatures. A tremendous thank you to Project Manager, Jody James Dunn, PMP and Business Development Manager, Courtney Forsyth, GSC who volunteered their time to support this project. Critteraid is a non-profit animal rescue sanctuary in Summerland, BC that provides a home to over a hundred animals, including cats and kittens, cows, pigs, goats, chickens and ducks, horses, and a peacock. It is 100% run by volunteers committed to caring for their animal rescues.
