About us
Billy Bishop Airport is Canada’s ninth-busiest airport, welcoming 2.8 million business and leisure travellers in 2018. The airport is also Canada’s sixth-busiest airport with passenger service to the United States. Offering service to more than 20 cities in Canada and the U.S., with connection opportunities to more than 80 international destinations via our airlines’ networks, Billy Bishop Airport is an important international gateway and a key driver of Toronto’s economy. The airport hosts two award-winning commercial air carriers, Porter Airlines and Air Canada, and has gained an excellent reputation throughout the travelling community for superior customer service and amenities such as the pedestrian tunnel, enhanced shuttle service, full-service lounges, proximity to downtown and shorter security lines. The close proximity to downtown Toronto and the ease of access to the airport have made Billy Bishop Airport the airport of choice for business and leisure travellers alike. In 2017, the airport was recognized with a series of passenger-driven awards, including tying for second place for Best Airport in North America (over two million passenger category) and the Best Airport in North America (two to five million passenger category) in the 2017 Airport Council International’s Airport Service Quality Awards. The airport also ranked the 10th best regional airport in North America, and also ranked the 10th best airport globally in the under-five million passenger category at the Skytrax World Airport Awards, the premier international airport awards voted on by 13.8 million passengers worldwide. Billy Bishop Airport was also named the sixth best international airport by Condé Nast Traveler and was listed one of the Top Ten Most Beautiful Airport Approaches in the world by PrivateFly. Billy Bishop Airport is owned and operated by PortsToronto. Phone: 416-307-2489 Email: accessibility@portstoronto.com

The Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport is a vital asset for Toronto, Ontario and Canada. At a time when Mayor Olivia Chow is wisely focused on bringing jobs and economic growth to Toronto's downtown, it's time for a sensible discussion to secure the airport's long-term future. That was my message in my presentation to the Mayor's Executive Committee today, with the strong backing of the members of the Ontario Chamber of Commerce. With urgent upgrades required to meet Transport Canada - Transports Canada standards by 2027, the airport needs the "runway" to make these large, long-term investments. It needs longer-term clarity on its lease, which is currently set to expire in 2033. Research tells us that the people of Toronto and beyond strongly support the airport's continuity. I also believe an efficient, increasingly sustainable airport can co-exist with a clean, green waterfront. Indeed, it already does. Let's get this done. #toronto #billybishop #airport #growth #ontario #chamberofcommerce #teamontario

FULL PULL! Our airport community came together today in support of Hope Air! 17 teams raced to see who could pull a 85,000 lbs Porter Airlines Inc. aircraft the fastest. Team #YTZ’s Haul for Hope plane pull clocked in at 1.04 and the winners were our friends at The Brantford Bruins – congratulations! Thank you to all the fundraisers, participants, and partners who made this event possible and helped support Hope Air’s mission to provide free medical travel for Canadians in need. #pullingforpatients #goteam

As part of our ongoing #TOTakesFlight series, we had the pleasure of speaking yesterday with nine-year-old Zoe and her mom Heidi as they arrived on Porter Airlines Inc. at Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport from Windsor. Zoe is one of hundreds of patients who relies on Hope Air and its medical travel assistance program to access the world-class medical care available in Toronto. She’s been visiting The Hospital for Sick Children every ten days since birth for blood transfusions to treat a rare bone marrow disorder. The family found Hope Air online in 2022 after years of driving or taking the train. “The care that we need is only available in Toronto,” Heidi said. Since finding Hope Air, she tells us that “there’s no more stress,” particularly because they don’t have to fret about how they’ll get to Zoe’s medical appointments or where they’ll stay while in the city. And Zoe agrees. When asked what she prefers, she said, “Planes. Planes for sure!” While Zoe’s medical appointments take the better part of a day, she has had an opportunity to visit Bubble Planet and she’s got big plans to check out the CN Tower / Tour CN one day soon. Like many nine-year-olds, when she has screen time she enjoys playing Minecraft, Fortnite and Roblox, and her favourite movie is “Call of the Wild.” Zoe is looking forward to a future where a bone marrow transplant will ease her symptoms and reduce or eliminate the need for blood transfusions. In the meantime, though, both her and her mom are glad they can count on Hope Air and Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport. “It’s amazing,” Heidi added of the whole experience of being a part of Hope Air’s medical travel assistance program. “Even the airport knows us by name now. It just makes it easier.” #itsmyairport #connectivity #YTZ
