For the past two months, PortsToronto’s Works and Environmental Services Department has been dredging the Keating Channel in order to address backlog dredging and help reduce flooding risks in the Port Lands. Each year, thousands of tonnes of sediment build up in the area where the Don River empties into the Keating Channel. If not removed, this build-up could cause the river to back up and flood. Allan Seymour, our Director, Works and Environmental Services Department explains how the dredging process works and why this operation is important to Toronto’s Harbour.

Today our Vice President, Airport, Warren Askew C.M. took part in a panel discussion featuring other airport leaders and environmental experts on “The airport of tomorrow, an environmental perspective” at the 2024 Airbus Sustainability Conference in Washington D.C. 

Yesterday, Daily Bread Food Bank released their annual “Who’s Hungry” report, which reported that in the last year, Toronto #foodbanks served 3.49M clients - a 38% increase over the last year.
