Burgundy in conjunction with Rio Tinto's Diavik Diamond Mine and De Beers Group and Mountain Province Diamonds Inc.’ Gahcho Kué Diamond Mine, is proud to present a one-of-a-kind bespoke pendant designed by Adamas Diamonds, featuring gems from all three Northwest Territories mines. Set in a caribou antler motif, this unique piece symbolizes the deep cultural connection between the land, wildlife, and the people of the North. Appraised at C$12,000, the pendant has been donated by all tree mines to be auctioned at the yearly MAX Awards Gala in Yellowknife on November 28. All proceeds will go towards supporting the Yellowknife Community Fundraising Club’s Adopt-A-Family program. The MAX Awards celebrate people making a difference in the NWT Mining and Exploration industry, recognizing achievements in the areas of economic leadership, environment and social responsibility, Indigenous achievement in mining or exploration, and distinguished service. Tickets to the event can be purchased online through this link: https://lnkd.in/gPVTaPZU.

"Worth the Wait" here is the FINAL transformations: From the rugged landscapes of Canada's Northwest Territories to the hands of skilled artisans, these stunning Ekati diamonds have undergone a remarkable journey of transformation. Mined from the world-renowned Ekati Diamond Mine, now proudly owned by Burgundy Diamond Mines, these gems are a testament to nature’s beauty and human craftsmanship. Polished to perfection by artisans in Botswana Each diamond begins as a rough stone deep within ancient kimberlite pipes, formed over millions of years. Through meticulous sorting, cutting, and polishing processes, these raw treasures are refined into exquisite polished diamonds, showcasing unparalleled clarity and brilliance. Burgundy’s commitment to ethical sourcing and sustainability ensures that every diamond carries a story of responsible mining practices and traceability from mine to market. As we celebrate the legacy of Ekati—Canada’s first diamond mine—these diamonds continue to shine as symbols of excellence, innovation, and the enduring beauty of natural Canadian gems. As we mark 26 years of continuous production at Ekati, we're proud to announce an incredible milestone: 100 million carats produced! This accomplishment, reached on September 28, 2024, reflects the dedication and hard work of every individual at Ekati over the past two and a half decades. As Canada's first diamond mine, Ekati continues to be one of the world's top diamond producers, renowned for its high-quality, ethically sourced gems. Operating 24/7 in a remote sub-Arctic location requires ingenuity, grit, and a commitment to excellence—qualities that have carried us through this remarkable journey. A huge congratulations to our entire team—whether in the field or in the office.  Here’s to many more milestones!

Burgundy Diamond Mines recently hosted a site visit to Ekati for elders and representatives from the Tłı̨chǫ government September 27 and 28. During the visit, key discussions were held on important topics, including closure planning for the Pigeon Pit and Waste Rock Storage Area, caribou crossings along the haul roads, and the use of remote camera monitoring for wildlife activities.   Burgundy’s environment and community staff had the opportunity to engage directly with the Tłı̨chǫ representatives, gaining valuable insights and learning from their traditional knowledge. These ongoing discussions continue to help strengthen our collaborative efforts in environmental stewardship and community engagement.

Today, on the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, we pause to reflect on the profound impact of residential schools on Indigenous communities across Canada. This day is dedicated to remembering the children who never came home, honouring the survivors, and recognizing the ongoing journey toward healing and reconciliation. Burgundy stands together with Indigenous peoples and commits to ongoing learning and meaningful action. We encourage everyone to take this day as an opportunity to listen, reflect, and engage with the stories and experiences of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples. Whether through quiet reflection, participating in community events, or exploring educational resources, each step we take today contributes to a future grounded in understanding and respect. Let’s walk the path of reconciliation together.
