As Indigenous-owned companies, KLS Earthworks & Environmental and Calgary Aggregate Recycling take this day to reflect on the ongoing journey toward reconciliation. We remain committed to being trauma-informed employers and responsible stewards of the communities we serve. In recognition of this day, we have made a donation to the Indian Residential School Survivors Society. About us
Calgary Aggregate Recycling Inc. takes materials from construction projects and recycles them into useable gravel, asphalt, and concrete products for construction and landscaping needs. Our team has over 100 years of combined experience working both in service and on the ground of the construction industry. We understand the importance of efficiency on any project. Our yard is equipped with the personnel and equipment necessary to keep trucks working and not waiting! Using recycled material directly impacts the environmental footprint of a construction project. Our commitment to reducing that footprint is matched only by that of our customers who are on the ground taking steps to improve our community, one project at a time. Together with our customers e keep over 250,000 tons of concrete and 120,000 tons of asphalt out of landfills every year. The impact of CAR's 30-year history is astounding, with over 7.5 million tons of concrete and 3.6 million tons of asphalt now repurposed for environmentally conscious construction and landscaping projects. Our yard has: 25mm Recycled Asphalt, 25mm Gravel, 80mm Gravel, 25mm Recycled Concrete, Bank Pit Run, Clean Fill, Recycled Drain Concrete and 80mm Recycled Concrete. We partner with industry on demolitions, road removal, and onsite concrete breakout projects. We can accommodate adjusted hours for specific project needs: early mornings, night shifts, and long weekends. We accept: Asphalt Rubble, Bricks & Mortar, Cinder Blocks, Clay Roofing Tiles, Concrete Rubble, Paving Stones & Tiles, and Bank Pit Run with a Current Analytical Report. We Offer: Sieve Reports for 25mm Concrete and 25mm & 80mm Gravel, to meet City of Calgary specs, SDS (Safety Data Sheet) reports for Asphalt & Concrete, and Lab Testing on Clay, Gravel & Concrete, ensuring there are no contaminants. Exciting times ahead for Calgary’s downtown! The CAR team had an absolute blast at this year’s KLS & CAR Field Skills Rodeo! It’s always exciting to watch our teams come together, showcase their skills, and have fun. A special shoutout to Colin Delegarde and Dave Knutson, who took home the buckles in the Wild Horse Race! Colin remains undefeated for three consecutive years—what an incredible achievement! We can’t wait to see everyone again at the 2025 KLS & CAR Field Skills Rodeo! #crushedit #washdirt #team #celebrate #workhard #playhard
The 3rd Annual KLS & CAR Field Skills Rodeo kicked off this year’s Stampede in style, and we dare say it was our best one yet! Our team pulled off an unforgettable event, showcasing the incredible talent and hard work of our crew. We were especially thrilled to welcome Inertia Hydrovac as our special guest, debuting the first-ever Hydrovac Hoedown—what a hit! A huge shoutout to Cooper Equipment Rentals Limited for providing the Skid Steers for our Skid Steer Penning, and to Finning Canada and The Cat Rental Store for supplying the equipment for our other exciting events: the loader for Wheel Loader Barrel Racing, the dozer for Dozer Jumping, and the excavator for Excavator Calf Roping. This event has grown tremendously over the last three years, and we can’t wait to continue this amazing tradition in 2025. It’s always a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the exceptional skills of our team and bring together our families and community. Congratulations to Brendan Perrault, the 2024 All-Around Champion!!! We are excited to continue our partnership with Exshaw Lafarge and Geocycle in our shared goal of driving sustainable construction practices. As a local and Indigenous-owned business, we are proud of our role in this initiative. Together we are supporting our local economy, circular economy, and the environment. Thank you to Lafarge Canada and Geocycle for your dedication to developing solutions that align with Canada's #GreenGrowth strategy. #crushedit #washdirt #supportlocal #circulareconomy #collaboration #partnership #esg
The Exshaw Lafarge and Geocycle team announces an extension of their agreement with Calgary Aggregate Recycling (CAR), an Indigenous-owned business, to recycle by-products typically sent to landfill. These by-products are predominantly clay and silt from CAR’s soil washing system, the first of its kind in Alberta. Since 2023, the Exshaw team has successfully recycled these materials as part of the cement manufacturing process. Last year, the team processed approximately 7,000 metric tons, with a 2024 target of more than 35,000 metric tons! “As one of the world's most transformative companies, we embrace the circularity challenge as a central strategic opportunity. We are excited to collaborate with CAR to develop sustainable recycling solutions that contribute to Canada's circular economy in line with our #GreenGrowth strategy,” said Sophie Wu, Head of Geocycle North America. Congratulations to the Exshaw team on this renewed collaboration with Calgary Aggregate Recycling and their contributions to the circular economy!

Our team works incredibly hard to put on a great show for our team, their families, and our construction community. This was the best year yet with the addition of the Inertia Hydrovac Hoe Down.
