The 3rd Annual KLS & CAR Field Skills Rodeo kicked off this year’s Stampede in style, and we dare say it was our best one yet! Our team pulled off an unforgettable event, showcasing the incredible talent and hard work of our crew. We were especially thrilled to welcome Inertia Hydrovac as our special guest, debuting the first-ever Hydrovac Hoedown—what a hit! A huge shoutout to Cooper Equipment Rentals Limited for providing the Skid Steers for our Skid Steer Penning, and to Finning Canada and The Cat Rental Store for supplying the equipment for our other exciting events: the loader for Wheel Loader Barrel Racing, the dozer for Dozer Jumping, and the excavator for Excavator Calf Roping. This event has grown tremendously over the last three years, and we can’t wait to continue this amazing tradition in 2025. It’s always a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the exceptional skills of our team and bring together our families and community. Congratulations to Brendan Perrault, the 2024 All-Around Champion!!! Day 13 of full operation on Cell 7. It is moving along at rapid pace. Subgrade on the cell floor is nearing completion. The 25 meter vertical (75 meter horizontal) major slope construction / correction is just about half way there. Everyone is pulling double duty to get this project done on time. Clay liner of the cell floor will be starting very shortly. Tell us it can’t be done. We will show you it can. #Construction #yycconstruction #Spyhill #cityofcalgary #heavyequipment #engineering #KLS

I am very grateful to have been able to continue to collaborate with Calgary Aggregate Recycling Inc. to find a circular end use for this material. Since my first visit to their facility they have been fantastic to do business with. It is great to be able to work with a company that is providing such an innovative solution for soils in Alberta. Thank you as well to the amazing team at the Lafarge Canada Exshaw plant. Without you this would not have been possible. It is impressive to see your dedication to using the most sustainable resources available. Geocycle offers innovative solutions such as this to help drive the #circulareconomy forward and move toward a #zerowaste future.
The Exshaw Lafarge and Geocycle team announces an extension of their agreement with Calgary Aggregate Recycling (CAR), an Indigenous-owned business, to recycle by-products typically sent to landfill. These by-products are predominantly clay and silt from CAR’s soil washing system, the first of its kind in Alberta. Since 2023, the Exshaw team has successfully recycled these materials as part of the cement manufacturing process. Last year, the team processed approximately 7,000 metric tons, with a 2024 target of more than 35,000 metric tons! “As one of the world's most transformative companies, we embrace the circularity challenge as a central strategic opportunity. We are excited to collaborate with CAR to develop sustainable recycling solutions that contribute to Canada's circular economy in line with our #GreenGrowth strategy,” said Sophie Wu, Head of Geocycle North America. Congratulations to the Exshaw team on this renewed collaboration with Calgary Aggregate Recycling and their contributions to the circular economy!

We hosted our 3rd Annual KLS & CAR Field Skills Rodeo on July 6, and we want to share a sneak peek at some of the action. Our team works incredibly hard to put on a great show for our team, their families, and our construction community. This was the best year yet with the addition of the Inertia Hydrovac Hoe Down. We look forward to growing the event every year and welcoming even more people through our gates. And we are even more excited to share some more pictures and videos over the weeks to come. We hope everyone had a great Stampede week, YAHOO! Calgary Aggregate Recycling Inc. #worklivesafe #Crushedit #washdirt #yyc #fieldskillsrodeo #equipmentoperatorchallenge #team #rodeo #celebrate

We are incredibly fortunate to have dedicated employees who choose to grow their careers with us. Today, we'd like to introduce our Supervisor, Brett Rotariu. Over the past five years at KLS, Brett has developed into an outstanding Supervisor. He has been a champion of our culture and instrumental in building the strong team we have today. Brett takes on any scope of work with enthusiasm and is always willing to mentor new employees as they begin their construction careers. He often joins us at hiring events to share his career journey and highlight the opportunities in the construction industry. Having a team that is ready to put on their work boots to get the job done but can also switch to dress shoes to engage with the next generation, is incredibly valuable. Brett exemplifies true leadership, and we are better with him on our team! Fun fact about Brett, he's a big music guy and we like to think that means he's a big Swiftie. If he were to recommend someone (other than Taylor Swift of course), check out Marcus King. #worklivesafe #yyc #construction #nextgeneration #supervisor #career #employeehighlight #culture #companyculture #profile
