Digitalization of businesses, digital access to public services, the Canadian legal system, and the advantages and challenges of doing business in Canada: Those were the main topics in a round table we hosted today with the Consulate General of the Federal Republic of Germany Toronto. It was a pleasure to welcome Dr. Angelika Schlunck, State Secretary (Deputy Minister) in the Federal Ministry of Justice (Bundesministerium der Justiz), and Ben Brake, Director-General for Digital and Data Policy in the German Federal Ministry of Digital and Transport! Representatives of member companies used the opportunity to listen to our guests from Germany, to ask questions, and discuss. We felt honored to facilitate this platform, establishing connections and exchange, contributing to strengthening transatlantic ties. Many thanks for the lively discussion! During their visit to Toronto and Ottawa, which will last several days, Ms. Schlunck and Mr. Brake will also meet with representatives from politics and academia. Germany can learn a lot from Canada when it comes to digitalization – and vice versa. #Hydrogen and #quantum technologies were the focus of Yvonne's meeting today with Roland Bleinroth, Guido von Vacano, and Nadja Weber from Messe Stuttgart. In 2020, Canada issued a call to action to seize the hydrogen opportunity for the benefit of Canadians. Hydrogen also plays a major role in the Canadian German Energy Partnership. Canada also has a national quantum strategy. Canadian researchers and companies are considered well positioned to realize the disruptive potential as the capability to design and engineer quantum applications increases. There is huge opportunity for Canada and Germany to collaborate on this topic. With hy-fcell – International Expo and Conference and Quantum Effects, Messe Stuttgart offers two of the respective industries’ must-attend events. hy-fcell is where the hydrogen and fuel cell community meets to discuss technological advances, transfer knowledge, and tap into international markets. The annual English-language Expo and Conference has locations in Germany, Saudia-Arabia, China – and in Canada, in Vancouver. It offers an ideal industry platform for hydrogen and fuel cell industry professionals to learn about, discuss and promote the latest developments in technology, policy, and applications. At this year’s Vancouver edition in June, Yvonne gave opening remarks at a breakfast reception, and our colleague Nicolai Pogadl moderated five expert presentations and Q&A sessions at the German Pavilion Forum. Quantum Effects just took place for the second time a few days ago. After exceeding expectations at its premiere in 2023, Quantum Effects is already considered one of the world's leading exhibitions and conferences for application-oriented quantum technologies with an annual rotation. Thank you for the insights, thank you for discussing your activities in and with Canada, Roland, Guido, Nadja and team! #Canada #Germany #PartnerWorldwide
