More and more Canadian companies are entering the era of Industry 4.0. Digital twins are already being used in numerous applications. “Sales of industrial robots are going through the roof in Canada” is the headline of Heiko Steinacher’s report. 5G networks are the game changer: In 2023, the International Federation of Robotics registered an increase of 43% industrial robots installed in Canada compared to the previous year – and all-time high. The automotive industry accounted for more than half of robot installations. Manufacturers see huge benefits through automation of production processes. Our member Northland Power, a Canadian-based global power producer, has been making waves in the energy transition. Northland Power Inc. develops, builds, owns, and operates a diversified mix of energy assets that include offshore wind, onshore renewables, and natural gas. Founded in 1987 and publicly traded since 1997, Northland has operating facilities worldwide that generate 3.4 GW (gross) of electricity, with a significant inventory of early to mid-stage development opportunities encompassing approximately 12 GW of potential capacity. Headquartered in Toronto, Northland has offices in eight countries. Northland was one of the first Canadian companies to invest in the European offshore wind market and has been active in Germany’s offshore wind sector for many years. They operate the Nordsee One offshore wind farm, completed in 2017 and located 40 km off the coast. Additionally, they own and operate the Deutsche Bucht windfarm, 95 km west of Borkum. With their experience in renewables, Northland is an important building block in the Canada-Germany Energy Partnership which was established in 2021 by Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) and the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action. As Canada develops its own regulatory framework for offshore wind, Northland will be able to bring this experience home and drive projects with local partners. Northland connects Canada and Germany by supplying clean, reliable energy. We are glad to have you in our community, @Mike Crawley and Northland Power team! Canada's pharmaceutical market continues to grow – and the opportunities for German companies in the sector remain good. In his analysis, Heiko Steinacher assesses that Canada is much more dependent on imports in the pharmaceutical sector than it used to be. The country mainly receives pharmaceutical products from the US, followed by Germany. When the #CETA free trade agreement comes fully into force, things will become easier for German companies when supplying to Canada. This is because the mutual recognition of proven manufacturing processes and inspections of pharmaceutical factories will eliminate duplicate controls in future. For companies, this will mean significantly less administrative work and lower costs. Are you interested in the Canadian pharmaceutical market? This episode of our #CanadianCorner series is about #Nunavut, the largest and northernmost territory of Canada. This territory is more than five times larger than Germany – with a population of only around 40,000 people! Nunavut is the least densely populated country sub-division in the world – not considering Antarctica – being even less densely populated than Denmark's Greenland. Nunavut is also home to the world's northernmost continuously inhabited place, a weather station on Ellesmere Island. Nunavut experiences a polar climate in most regions, attracting tourists from many countries. Tourism is one of the main economic drivers in Nunavut; rit includes activities like dog sledding, snowmobiling, hiking, cultural festivals, arctic wildlife safaris, and sea kayaking. Mining is also of great importance: Nunavut is a land of opportunity featuring investments in gold, copper, and diamonds. Driving economic growth and creating prosperity, Nunavut has successfully opened four new mines in the last decade. The territory’s rich array of minerals has advanced to production, but there is more to discover: Experts assume that Nunavut’s mineral potential is only beginning to be realized, making it one of the most prospective first-world jurisdictions available to explore and develop today. The territory also has untapped oil and gas potential. Investors will find strong government support for doing business, along with opportunities to partner with the territory’s Inuit economic development corporations on investment projects. Interested? We are here to support – together with our partners at the Government of Nunavut. Contact us: https://lnkd.in/grzKCFGm 𝘊𝘢𝘯𝘢𝘥𝘢 𝘪𝘴 𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘭𝘥’𝘴 𝘵𝘰𝘱 𝘥𝘦𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘴 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘦𝘪𝘨𝘯 𝘥𝘪𝘳𝘦𝘤𝘵 𝘪𝘯𝘷𝘦𝘴𝘵𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵.
