That's a wrap on ICSC Toronto 2024, which was a huge success for our National Retail Leasing Team! Thanks to their efforts, we were able to hold over 150 impactful meetings with current and potential tenants, brokers and partners. These conversations were not just about making deals; it provided us with the opportunity to better understand our stakeholders' long-term needs and how we could best support their growth. One of the highlights of the event was our post-conference gatherings where we brought together over 70 partners. A green building program developed by the U.S. Green Building Council, LEED-certified buildings are ones that have excelled across several areas of building excellence in energy and environmental design. We are so proud to have partnered with The Bentway as the Presenting Sponsor for a once in a lifetime public art project created by Station House Opera and Artsadmin. We feel so privileged to have been a part of the North American debut of the world-renowned "Dominoes" program. Downtown Toronto came alive as 8,000 life-sized dominoes tumbled along a 2.7km path—passing through Canoe Landing Park, through Toronto Public Library, with the last piece falling into Lake Ontario. At our West Block property, located at Bathurst and Lake Shore, we added a special touch to the day with a pop-up Indigenous vendor market, live music by Aaron Ridge, and family-friendly games for everyone to enjoy. The dominoes toppled under the Gardiner, climbed down stairs and went over our outdoor fountain. The path even went directly through our Joe Fresh store, giving patrons a free show while they got their shopping in! This remarkable project wasn’t just about the spectacle—it was about bringing people together. It was a joyful act of community-building as each domino piece was thoughtfully placed by local residents and families. Dominoes is a project about making connections both physically (between neighbourhoods and private and public spaces), and socially between people and local businesses. At Choice Properties, we believe in creating Places where People Thrive, and saw this initiative as an opportunity to re-imagine urban spaces and celebrate community in a big way.
