In honour of World Mental Health Day, Conservation Halton hosted our third annual Wellness Fair for staff. With a focus on wellness, mental health, and new this year—a sleep therapist—we aimed to provide a rejuvenating experience for all that attended. Highlights included: 🌿 Chair massages  🌿 Laughter yoga  🌿 Mindfulness workshops 🌿 Indigenous wellness teachings    Thank you to our amazing vendors and sponsors that made this day possible: Chudleigh's Brand OMERS Sun Life Ivana B Wellness HealthCasa Kelly's Bake Shoppe Goodnight Sleep   Our very own Joint Health and Safety Committees and Patrol Team also contributed to this successful event.   Lastly, we appreciate staff donations of clothing, toiletries and non-perishable food items that will be delivered to Halton Women’s Place.   We look forward to continuing the tradition of promoting wellness and balance at Conservation Halton.

Conservation Halton hosted the 17th annual Halton Children’s Water Festival in partnership with Halton Region at Kelso Conservation Area from September 24-27. Over 3,800 students between grades 2-5 participated in fun, inquiry-based activities to learn about the importance of environmental stewardship their local watersheds. This four-day event would not be possible without the support of our sponsors, partners, and our team of over 500 volunteers. Today is the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. It is a day of reflection — a time to learn about and remember the children, families and communities affected by residential schools in Canada. There are community events held locally and online, including those hosted in Milton by one of our community partners, Grandmother’s Voice. Local landowners Laurie and Judith Reed generously donated 80 acres of their 105-acre property to Conservation Halton in 2020. In collaboration with Credit Valley Conservation (CVC) last week, Conservation Halton’s Science and Monitoring team completed a fisheries survey at Lowville Park. Thank you, CVC for sharing your expertise and equipment with our team to survey this larger and deeper sampling site.   Fish community data was collected to monitor trends in Bronte Creek and to assess watershed health and understand restoration success. Conservation Halton is pleased to announce Chudleigh's Brand's generous support of the new visitor centre at Crawford Lake Conservation Area.   The re-envisioned visitor centre is set to open in fall 2025 and will enhance the guest experience and increase programming capacity at Crawford Lake. Chandra Sharma addressed staff yesterday in her first town hall as Conservation Halton’s new President & CEO. Welcome, Chandra! Our entire staff and partners look forward to working with Chandra to protect the health of our watershed and meet the needs of our growing communities. Conservation Halton also wishes to thank Barbara Veale for her leadership and support, in serving as Acting CAO since April 2024.
