About us
On October 7, 2008, 16 Catholic health care facilities across Alberta came together under a single board and administration. Today, Covenant Health has a team of more than 14,000 staff, physicians and volunteers across our sites in Banff, Bonnyville, Camrose, Castor, Edmonton, Killam, Lethbridge, Medicine Hat, Mundare, St. Albert, Trochu and Vegreville. Rooted in a tradition that is 150-years strong, our mission is carried out by inspired people—workers, physicians and volunteers—of all faiths, traditions and cultures who believe in the value of compassionate, holistic care. We are called to continue the healing ministry of Jesus by serving with compassion, upholding the sacredness of life in all stages, and caring for the whole person—body, mind and soul.

Celebrating 10 years of life-changing support at St. Mary’s Hospital! 🎉 For the past decade, the early supported discharge program has been a lifeline for stroke survivors in Camrose, bringing essential care closer to home. By offering physical and mental health support right in their community, the program ensures that rural patients receive the whole-person care they need without the need to travel. Join us in celebrating the amazing work being done by this team! 👏

Patient safety with a haunted twist! 👻🎃 To recognize Patient Safety Week, the Misericordia Community Hospital hosted a unique, interactive experience today—a simulated patient room designed with hidden safety hazards! ⚠ This “haunted” setup encourages staff to identify potential risks in a safe, engaging way, blending gamification with education to reinforce best practices in patient care. It’s a fun and creative approach to ensuring top-notch safety standards, helping our team deliver the safest care possible! 👏

Bringing cutting-edge training to rural health care! 🚐 We're taking simulation training on the road with our new Rural Mobile Simulation project. This innovative initiative ensures rural health care teams have access to high-quality simulation training, enhancing safe and effective care for patients and residents across Alberta. With the support of the Covenant Foundation, this mobile simulation unit is equipped to deliver hands-on training directly to our rural acute and continuing care sites. From managing complex scenarios like pediatric trauma to reflecting on everyday practices, staff can now refine their skills in their own care environments, building confidence and improving patient safety. This project is part of our commitment to providing patient-focused care for every Albertan, no matter where they live. 💙
