🌈 The "2S" in 2SLGBTQ+ stands for Two-Spirit, honoring Indigenous people who carry distinct, culturally rooted gender roles. Two-Spirit, a term coined in the 1990s, translates from Anishinaabemowin as "two spirits" (niizh manidoowag), acknowledging the balance of both masculine and feminine energies. In various Indigenous communities, Two-Spirit people have historically held sacred roles and maintained cultural traditions. Unlike nonbinary or queer identities, Two-Spirit is unique to Indigenous cultures and reflects roles that European colonization often tried to erase. Recognizing 2S first in 2SLGBTQ+ amplifies these voices and respects their vital contributions to community resilience. #2SLGBTQ p.s. the nsylixcen word for Two-Spirit is stamiya - “the doe who grew horns” this beautiful term signifies the balance of both masculine and feminine spirits Diversio Diversio EDU

In recognition of October being National Disability Employment Awareness Month, I wrote a blog post for Diversio on how we can make hiring practices more accessible (thank you Apurva Abhang, MBA for the opportunity to write this!). Let's move away from treating accessibility as an afterthought and prioritize hiring people with disabilities. https://lnkd.in/gUnPDD2s

Leaders recognize that the majority of employees work primarily for financial reasons, with only 36% feeling a deep connection to their roles. It is the responsibility of leaders to cultivate a culture where employees feel valued and motivated. This is essential because inclusive and diverse teams tend to achieve goals and drive innovation, which is indicative of high performance. To foster such an environment, leaders should focus on building trust and psychological safety, embracing diverse perspectives, and providing regular feedback. An inclusive culture is crucial for retaining top talent; employees who feel a sense of belonging and recognition are more likely to remain committed to the organization. 🔗 Learn more about leading a high performing team here: https://hubs.la/Q02VGXnf0 🧠 Stay updated with the latest insights by subscribing to Diversio’s weekly newsletter!
