The Town of Oakville is once again raising the standard for green building with the renovation of Sixteen Mile Sports Complex. This community-oriented project will feature a park with sports and recreation facilities, a multi-use community center, a public library, and comprehensive accessibility features. Renewable energy technologies and green building standards, including taking the steps towards a LEED certification, a net-zero carbon design, and advanced technologies like self-tinting glass and sensor-controlled LED lighting, will be implemented. Geosource Energy Inc. installed a geothermal system with 209 boreholes to provide heating and cooling. The sports fields and cricket ground opened earlier this year, with the community centre and library set to open in 2025. 📷: INhalton – Geothermal Installation: Geosource Energy Inc. We’re incredibly proud of the work our summer co-op students accomplished! Peter Golubov, Paulina Lagunes Betanzos, and Caitlyn Staresinic made significant contributions to research projects during their short but sweet time at Geosource Energy Inc. this summer. Their co-op experience spanned fieldwork, R&D testing in our lab, and collaborating with our engineering team in the office. They analyzed drilling performance, tested innovative materials, and developed more efficient methods for sizing geothermal systems. At the end of their co-op, they presented their findings to the entire Geosource operations team and our ownership group—and did a fantastic job! Thank you, Peter, Paulina, and Caitlyn, for spending your summer with us. We’re honoured to be a part of your career journeys! 💚 – #GeothermalEnergy #GeothermalIndustry #RenewableEnergy #SustainableEnergy

Ready to revolutionize your urban development projects? Ontario's Green Development Standards are leading the way, promoting sustainable, low-carbon construction. However, as of August 2024, these standards are mandatory in only 14 Ontario municipalities. Other cities, including Hamilton and Ottawa, have green standards in the works that are likely to come into effect sooner rather than later. Geosource Energy Inc. proudly supports these standards as outlined by The Atmospheric Fund (TAF). It's crucial for developers to understand how geothermal energy fits into these standards and benefits your development with low-carbon, future-focused sustainability and cost savings. Want to know more? We can help you navigate these regulations and explore geothermal exchange solutions for heating and cooling for your next project. Excellence in sustainable design shines not only above ground, but underground as well! Since its construction in 2018, The Joyce Centre for Partnership and Innovation at Mohawk College has consistently generated more energy than it consumes, thanks in part to the large-scale geothermal energy system for heating and cooling, installed by Geosource Energy Inc.. This net-zero energy building, featuring a powerful solar roof, serves as a bridge between two existing wings of the college. In addition to housing lecture halls, classrooms, and laboratories, it fittingly hosts the Centre for Climate Change Management. This project’s impact on the future of sustainable and innovative development goes beyond its own walls. The Joyce Centre… …is one of Ontario’s first net-zero energy institutional buildings. ✔️ …is the first institutional building to be certified in both the Design and Performance categories by the CAGBC | Canada Green Building Council. ✔️ …is the second project in Canada and the first institutional building to earn a Zero Carbon Building - Design certification from the CaGBC. ✔️ …played a key role in setting the standards for the CaGBC Zero Carbon Buildings Framework. ✔️ …contributes to the World Green Building Council’s “Advancing Net Zero” initiative, a global project aiming to ensure that all buildings are net-zero carbon by 2050, with all new buildings achieving this by 2030. ✔️ We’re extremely proud to have been involved with this groundbreaking project at Mohawk College! – Geothermal Construction: Geosource Energy Inc. Another Geosource Energy Inc. project to reach LEED status - and this one of Canada’s largest geothermal systems! Congrats to all involved in Western Memorial Regional Hospital receiving LEED Silver Certification.
The new Western Memorial Regional Hospital in Corner Brook is home to Canada’s largest #geothermal system, which has set a precedent for modern #infrastructure for both Government of Newfoundland and Labrador and North America. The geothermal field is approximately 600 feet below the hospital’s parking lot and provides 100 per cent of the ground source geothermal heating for the hospital–the largest solution of its kind for a health care facility in North America. With efficiency and cost-savings at the forefront, this groundbreaking system provides approximately 12 per cent total cost savings over the life span of 30 years. The geothermal system was also key in eliminating cooling towers at the hospital, saving up to two million gallons of water per year. “The Western Memorial Regional Hospital’s @LEED Silver Certification exemplifies how we are investing in modern, resilient infrastructure to service the Western Region of our province. The facility is home to the largest geothermal heating and cooling system, which marks an innovative approach to design, operation and environmental standards. It is a wonderful example of how we can achieve a state-of-the-art facility that is also environmentally friendly,” said @Fred Hutton, Minister of #Transportation and Infrastructure. The new Western Regional Memorial Hospital was constructed and officially handed over by the Corner Brook Health Partnership (CBHP) to the province in November 2023. NL Health Services is now in operational control of the facility and opened the new hospital to the public earlier this spring. The Corner Brook Health Partnership is comprised of the following members: Plenary Americas, PCL Construction, MARCO, Parkin Architects, B+H Architects, Johnson Controls, Cahill Contractors, Plan Group Inc., WSP in Canada, Footprint, and Geosource Energy Inc. https://lnkd.in/eMNKGmAG Photo: (Julian Parkinson)

You heard it from Jeff Hull, President of Hullmark: The sustainable benefits of geothermal heating and cooling are just the tip of the iceberg. Geothermal systems offer increased energy efficiency, and in turn, reduce utility costs, and maximize savings for building occupants and owners alike. Installing geothermal heating and cooling during your build or retrofit is an investment that increases a building’s long-term profitability. Geosource Energy Inc. is proud to partner with Jeff and the Hullmark team on 1071 King St W, a new 17-story flatiron building in Toronto’s Liberty Village. We drilled approximately 60 boreholes, each 885 ft deep, to provide a geothermal system for future residents. This project broke ground in July 2024, and the sustainable features will benefit the residents, developers, and community alike. This is the second Hullmark project to feature a geothermal system designed and built by Geosource Energy. Interested in how geothermal systems can enhance your next project?
