GlobeScan collaborated with The Economist in recent polling to evaluate public opinion on critical political issues impacting today's election. This survey asked participants three questions: 1️⃣ Which candidate they would like to win the American election in November 2️⃣ Whether they would rather see Russia or Ukraine win the war 3️⃣ Whether they would prefer America or China to be the world’s leading power Here are some key findings from the survey: 📌 Worldwide, 45% of respondents prefer the Democratic Party candidate, while 33% preferred Donald Trump. 👉 Worldwide the Democrats were ahead with both genders and across all educational and income cohorts. 👉 Support for Trump came ahead in one-third of countries or territories including Argentina, Egypt, Nigeria, Saudi Arabia, Türkiye and Vietnam. 📌 An average of 54% of people polled said they would prefer to see Ukraine win the war, against just 20% who favoured Russia. 👉 Solidarity for Ukraine was strongest in Europe. 👉 The five countries where people backed Russia were Egypt, India, Indonesia, Saudi Arabia and Vietnam. 📌 On average 59% of people said they would prefer America as the world’s leading power if given a choice between it and China. 👉 In India, 79% favoured America, as did majorities in all five of the Latin American states polled. 👉 People in Türkiye preferred a Chinese-run world, along with populations in Egypt and Saudi Arabia. More Americans believe that elections in their country are free and fair than they did five years ago 🇺🇸 📈  In 2024, 47% of Americans hold this view, up from just 34% in 2019. However, this increased confidence still leaves fewer than half saying they trust the system. 📌 Baby Boomers+ (54%) and Millennials (51%) express the most faith in the election process 📌 Only 40% of Gen X and 41% of Gen Z think that elections in their country are free and fair 📌 Along political lines, Democrats mostly believe in the system’s integrity (67%) while only 33% of Republicans and 37% of Independents feel the same What does this mean❓ 👉 This year's elections are expected to be contentious, with fewer than half of Americans believing in the electoral process's integrity. The rise in confidence over the past five years suggests Americans have become more convinced of the fairness of the process after Biden's 2020 win, despite claims of voter fraud and the storming of the Capitol. The question remains: will this confidence endure, or will it crumble under the pressure of another close election next week? Learn more and read the full insight here: https://lnkd.in/gvi_yP5m
