“This year's success legitimizes PR's prominent role at Cannes,” says Golin CEO Matt Neale. Golin won BIG at the Cannes Lions last week! We’re so proud of all Golin members who took part in bringing such powerful ideas to life✨ ❤️ Huge congratulations to Ondine Whittington and the Golin London team on receiving a Grand Prix for their work on The Misheard Version - a joint production of Golin London and Virgo Health for Specsavers. The campaign has also earned one gold and three silver lions! Our own Anthony O'Neill, ECD in Chicago, also earned a Silver Lion in the Digital Craft category for his “Driving While Black” campaign with the Courageous Conversation Global Foundation. Well done, Tony! Last but certainly not least, Golin also made HISTORY and became the first PR agency to win the top prize in the PR category - since it launched in 2009. It made our founder’s birthday, Al Golin, extra memorable this year!

We’re overjoyed to share that Golin and Specsavers received the coveted Grand Prix Lion, a Gold Lion and two Silver Lions across the Audio & Radio and Healthcare categories at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity, a recognition of our groundbreaking work with Specsavers on ‘The Misheard Version’ campaign. Our ‘The Misheard Version’ campaign, in collaboration with Specsavers, redefined creative boundaries and showcased the transformative power of strategic storytelling. To commemorate #AsianHistoryMonth, our very own Sasha Kalra joined a global panel hosted by API Unite, Golin's ERG for all employees who identify as either Asian or Pacific Islander. The "What's For Lunch" panel event featured Goliners from around the world sharing how food connects them with their culture. To celebrate, API Unite created a recipe book with recipes, pictures and stories around these very dishes. API Unite is one of many ERGs at Golin, and its mission is to learn and raise the collective awareness of API culture and talents, to provide a space for Golin’s growing API population to voice their shared experiences and stories. To drive excitement for the launch of The Idea of You on Prime Video, Golin executed a publicity campaign to target entertainment and lifestyle media to engage a core YA audience, followers of lead-star Anne Hathaway and established fans of the beloved novel with the same name. Our publicity team rolled out several tactics to create buzz for its launch, including sending screeners to generate reviews, trailer blasts, coordinating a virtual junket with cast members, sending media to its premiere in NYC for red carpet interviews as well as promoting and driving attendance for an exclusive media and influencer screening. Hosted at TIFF Lightbox, the team filled all the seats with key media including those from CBC Commotion, Buzzfeed Canada, Toronto Star and key entertainment and booktok influencers. In partnership with Sony Canada, guests were invited to a cocktail reception prior to the screening which comprised of a bar and a premium viewing experience. During the screening, guests were laughing and gasping throughout the film sharing how they loved the opportunity to view the film on a big screen! The team also landed interviews with lead-stars Anne Hathaway and Nicholas Galitzine on top-tier morning and entertainment shows including Breakfast Television and eTalk. Overall, our publicity team generated more than 230 pieces of coverage across Canada. This includes interviews, reviews and features across notable outlets like The Globe and Mail, Toronto Sun, Breakfast Television, eTalk, CTV's Your Morning, Swagger Magazine, CP24, Le Journal de Montreal and more. Do you personalize notes when sending out PR mailers / gifted products? Today's bias brand spotlight: Johnson & Johnson + Kenvue's Neutrogena I'm in Sales, I KNOW personalization can be tough at scale – but results follow. Neutrogena sent me an email saying they've seen my posts talking about Sun Bum + Supergoop! and asked if I'd try out their SPF products. Some of my content talks about going back and forth between Toronto and my small hometown of Burlington. They sent the products and wrote a personalized note mentioning that these products are great to pack when I go back to (my small town) of Burlington. The note itself was post-worthy!!! 1. They've built a connection (shoutout Hunter Soll's emails too) 2. They've encouraged engagement, buzz, and word-of-mouth promotion 3. Authenticity comes across as more sincere 4. Enhanced brand image by showing they pay attention to detail 5. They created shareable content, amplifying reach and exposure. BTW the story frame I posted of the note had more engagement. Imagine I received two similar PR packages, one with a personalized note, one without. Which would I be more likely to share? If you're dabbling w/ product seeding and you're worried creators won't share your product – go the extra mile.
