Green Communities Canada and our Ontario members have written Prabmeet Sarkaria expressing our deep concern about Bill 212, Reducing Gridlock, Saving You Time Act, 2024. Together, we represent a group of community-based non-profits that work with schools & provide environmental programming in communities in 52 municipalities and 3 First Nations across Ontario. This bill would negatively affect the future of mobility in the Province of Ontario. Slowing or reversing the installation of bike lanes will have an adverse impact on children’s health, and the environment, while also increasing congestion. Read more:

About us
Founded in 1995, Green Communities Canada is a national non-profit association of 20 community-based environmental organizations working together for a vibrant, equitable and sustainable future. Our mission is to connect community-based climate action groups through a national network to share resources, inspire innovative programming, and elevate our collective impact. We know that working together is the only way to move the needle forward. GCC’s current program areas of focus are home energy efficiency, stormwater management and active transportation. Member organization work cuts across additional program areas including waste, food insecurity, climate education, and youth engagement. We also work to influence government policy, at all levels, as it relates to environmental and climate issues.

Sizing an air-source #heatpump properly is one of the keys to an affordable, efficient and comfortable experience for a homeowner looking to electrify their heating (and cooling). To make that process easier, Natural Resources Canada has launched its Air-Source Heat Pump Sizing and Selection App, a tool that "helps designers and contractors quickly define an air-source heat pump system that will meet the needs of the project," based on NRCan's own Excel-based tool and guide. To learn more about the tool and give it a shot, visit the app on the Government of Canada website: https://lnkd.in/g2VENhcY

New models have a range of up to 250 km*, though it varies by region. In Quebec for example, school buses travel an average of less than 100 km per day. Also, as new electric school bus models are introduced, their range continues to increase.📈 * Based on a Lion electric school bus model. 📖 more in our report, Pathways for Canadian #ElectricSchoolBus Adoption 👉 https://buff.ly/3TI10KU Alt text: Decorative image with two circles and a heading: "Debunking Electric School Bus Myths." The first circle says: "Myth #2," and the second one says, "Electric school buses don't have sufficient range for many regions." The circles overlap with a location pin graphic next to them. Our partners Ecology Action Centre have published a new report: Driving Towards a Healthier Future! The report makes the case for switching to electric school busses in Atlantic Canada to protect the health and wellbeing of the roughly 215,000 children in Atlantic Canada who depend on these buses to get to and from school.
