It's #BacktoSchool time for students across Canada! 📚 Though Enoch Turner School House is no longer a functioning school, it was the first free school in Toronto and provided free education to the children of immigrants living in Toronto's Corktown neighbourhood. It's also the oldest still-standing school in Toronto! The school was an important catalyst for a provincially-funded free school system. 📷 Enoch Turner Schoolhouse, Toronto, ON * * * C'est la rentrée scolaire pour les étudiants de partout au Canada ! 📚 Bien que l'Enoch Turner School House ne soit plus une école fonctionnelle, elle a été la première école gratuite à Toronto et a offert une éducation gratuite aux enfants d'immigrants pauvres vivant dans le quartier de Corktown à Toronto. C'est aussi la plus ancienne école encore debout à Toronto ! L'école a été un catalyseur important pour un système scolaire gratuit financé par la province.
