Looking back on an eventful and successful year for #ICCAIA, we would like to take this opportunity to wish you a warm, healthy, and joyful holiday season! We are proud to share a brief annual review of 2024, highlighting some key milestones for our team and community: 🔹 We celebrated the inauguration of our expansion programme with our Canadian, Québec (Ministère des Relations internationales et de la Francophonie du Québec), and Montréal (Montréal International) partners, as well as our Board of Directors and the International Civil Aviation Organization. The ICCAIA team doubled in size with the addition of our new directors, Majid Badiey, PMP, MEng., Anouck BARREAUX and Alexandra Paré. 🔹 We joined the International Aviation Climate Ambition Coalition (#IACAC), becoming its first industry member. 🔹 The ICCAIA team and members actively engaged in key ICAO events to set the stage for the next ICAO Assembly, including the 14th Air Navigation Conference, the First Advanced Air Mobility Symposium, the Non-CO2 Aviation Emissions Symposium, and the LTAG Stocktaking Symposium. 🔹 ICCAIA’s panel members and advisors actively participated in ICAO panel discussions and working groups and made significant contributions across all areas, including environmental sustainability, airworthiness, security, CNS/ATM, AAM, heath and facilitation. 🔹 Through the joint efforts of States and industry, significant progress has been made on the Global Aviation and Aerospace Skills Taskforce front. The second meeting, hosted by the UAE GCAA, was held in Abu Dhabi in November, and chaired by Nina Brooks. #GAAST 🔹 Led by Dan Carnelly, we organized a tour of ICCAIA’s Members and Associate Members in the Asia-Pacific region to discuss important issues for the global manufacturing industry and explore how to facilitate links with other Associations and stakeholders in the region, as ICCAIA looks to continue its expansion. 🔹 We had the honor of joining ICAO in celebrating the 80th anniversary of the Chicago Convention and delivering a joint industry declaration, reaffirming our dedication to safe, secure, and sustainable growth. 🔹 ICCAIA supported the creation of Air Transport Action Group (ATAG)’s latest edition of 'Aviation: Benefits Beyond Borders', which was released in December in celebration of #ICAO80. #AviationBenefits https://lnkd.in/g-wvNgd 🔹 We’ve also started preparations for our inaugural in-person 2025 AGM and Conference, scheduled in March. We look forward to a productive year ahead, with continued success, new opportunities, and collaborations with the manufacturing and services sector community, ICAO, and partners from the global aviation ecosystem! ✈️

As part of the International Civil Aviation Organization’s Extraordinary Session of the Council to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the signing of the Convention on International Civil Aviation in Chicago, #ICCAIA had the privilege of being invited today to make a statement. Eric Fanning, President and CEO of the Aerospace Industries Association and current Chair of the ICCAIA Board of Directors, addressed the audience, expressing his honor in continuing the manufacturing and services industry’s partnership with #ICAO. He reflected on the Chicago Convention’s transformative impact on aviation and reaffirmed the industry's commitment to innovation, safety, and sustainability, including support for ICAO's goals, such as net-zero emissions by 2050. Additionally, led by Air Transport Action Group (ATAG), the global aviation industry presented a unified declaration to ICAO, celebrating shared achievements, as well as making a collective pledge to support ICAO’s mission. This pledge ensures that aviation remains a key component of a thriving, connected, inclusive, and affordable global air transportation system for both people and goods. https://lnkd.in/e6bBxJg4 In alignment with the #ICAO80 celebrations, today also marks the official release of ATAG’s latest edition of 'Aviation: Benefits Beyond Borders'. The creation of this report was supported by organizations such as ICCAIA. This edition reveals that aviation supports approximately 86.5 million jobs worldwide, contributes 3.9% of global economic activity, transports a third of world trade by value, enables a significant portion of tourist arrivals, and connects people across the globe. ICCAIA is proud to be chairing the Global Aviation and Aerospace Skills Taskforce, such a dedicated and enthusiastic group, working towards ensuring a resilient future workforce for aerospace and aviation.
Aviation Safety and Skills Leader | Vice Chair GAAST | Championing collaboration between industry and government
❓ How do we ensure the aviation and aerospace industries have the workforce they need to thrive in the future? This isn’t a challenge that anyone can tackle alone. It’s a truly global issue that requires collaboration 🌍 between governments, regulators, industry, and academia. Every phase of flight ✈️, every organization, and every region depends on a diverse and future-ready workforce to meet growing demand and deliver safe, secure and sustainable sectors. I’m honoured to serve as Vice Chair of the Global Aviation and Aerospace Skills Taskforce (GAAST) — a unique and collaborative initiative bringing together industry, regulators and governments from across the world 🌏 to address shared workforce challenges. Under the incredible leadership of Nina Brooks, with Casey Ferriter as our tireless Program Manager, GAAST. This week, the taskforce convened for its second meeting, kindly hosted by the UAE General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA). It was a privilege to work alongside a group of inspiring individuals (where for once the women outnumbered the men) in these critical conversations. The spirit of international cooperation was on full display, and it’s only through this level of collaboration that we can craft solutions to ensure the aviation workforce of tomorrow is equipped to meet the challenges ahead. Special thanks to Jorge Vargas and Latifa Hadbi of the International Civil Aviation Organization for their invaluable insights, and to Mohammad Salem for hosting such a productive, energizing week and sharing your culture and country with us 🙏. To my fellow taskforce members: your dedication, creativity, and vision inspire me every day. Together, we’re making meaningful progress toward a sustainable and inclusive future for aviation 🌟. #aviation #aerospace #skills #GAAST #workforce #internationalcooperation #collaboration
