In September I had the pleasure of making some portraits for local author Susan Appleyard. We chose the south shore of Kempenfelt Bay by the duck sanctuary and willow trees. It’s one of my favourite spots on the waterfront for photos. This fall light has been dreamy this year. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I love capturing the essence of light in my portrait sessions on location. Of course the light is always different and cloudy days are also lovely but when we can use the sunlight to our advantage when on location, it makes for magical portraits with incredible light. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ With years of shooting on location, I have honed my ability to see and capture the best light wherever I am shooting. These portraits are all natural light and no reflectors or flashes were used. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I love the beautiful light-filled boceh (aesthetic quality of the blur in the background) which I got by positioning my client in the right spot to achieve how I wanted the light to look both on her and for my background; as well as choosing the right focal length and aperture for these images. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ It really was so beautiful that day. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I am always looking at the light wherever I am. Do you always notice the light and how it dances and glitters in nature when you are out and about? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #editorialportraits #authorportraits #portraitphotographer #barriephotographer #portraitsonlocationi
