    A well-organized and strategic fundraising plan is critical for success. Yet many nonprofits might overlook its importance when they have volunteers, a host committee and some donor meetings. Once you have a plan, it will become your go-to when referring to the fundraising calendar, when you need guidance on a strategy or when you need to redirect your time and energy into the most fruitful strategies. In short, it will help you get to your mission with more ease. 💪🏽 As overwhelming as a fundraising plan may seem, here are a few non-negotiables that will guide you in the right direction when starting out: 🎯 Annual fundraising goal: How much money does your organization need to continue bringing your mission to life? 🌱 Your mission: Too often the mission and the ‘why’ behind your fundraising efforts gets buried under everything else. Reiterate your mission. Lay it in the foundation of your fundraising plan. 📈 Tactics/Strategies: The ‘how’ of the plan is as important as the ‘why’. Spending time on a strategy that isn’t the right fit for your mission won’t bring about any results. Think about major donors, events, direct mail, grants, online giving, multi-year gifts, events and individual giving. ⏳ Timeline: A sticky spot for many nonprofits, the timeline can often be the setback in your fundraising efforts. A critical path involving dates for the above-mentioned strategy will keep the ball rolling and make your mission more tangible.   • National Indigenous Peoples Day- A day to acknowledge, celebrate and reflect. Indigenous Peoples in Canada continue to face significant challenges like systemic discrimination, loss of land and the ongoing impacts of residential schools. The struggles of First Nations, Inuit and Métis highlight why we need continued efforts towards reconciliation, justice, and equality. Today also brings the opportunity to celebrate their resilience, culture and traditions. But more than that, today we also reflect on how we can actively show our support and honour Indigenous Peoples’ traditions. M&M international endeavours to walk along side to understand and support Indigenous Peoples. In giving 1% of our revenue to an Indigenous led charity, we hope to lead by example.     Over the last 20 years, we’ve served over 370 non-profit organizations and 98% have reached their financial goals. 💸 Managing Director, Martha Asselin shares the top 3️⃣ things she keeps in mind when forecasting the achievability of a fundraising campaign goal: 💪🏽 Assess the Strength of Your Case: For Martha, a comprehensive study is paramount. She evaluates the strength of a nonprofit’s Case based on donor and stakeholder interest and can then determine their fundraising goal more accurately. She identifies donor priorities, gauges philanthropic interest, and ensures alignment with potential donors' key values. 🙋🏻♀️ Volunteer Participation Matters: In the last almost 2 decades, Martha has observed that if donors are willing to give their time to a goal as volunteers, they’re more likely to give their financial support as well. Understanding if potential donors are willing to contribute their time as volunteers can make a huge difference. 🚀 Does your goal resonate with your donors? It's not just about aiming high; it's about being realistic and attainable. Martha emphasizes the importance of gauging donor willingness which is a reflection of the importance of your plan in their philanthropic giving. After working with numerous nonprofits, she believes a successful goal requires at least 80% donor buy-in on the plans and the attainability of the goal. Understanding your donors' commitment is key to setting achievable targets.
