As a Sr. Content Designer & Marketer, I specialize in creating engaging content that boosts brand visibility and drives growth.

Back in August 2022, the Moz Content Team made a big change to the way we format our weekly Whiteboard Friday posts. We started including digitized versions of the whiteboards in each post to help with legibility, accessibility, and shareability. And guess what — all the digital whiteboards since then have been created by one person — yours truly! So why am I sharing this now? Because I just digitized my 100th whiteboard for the Whiteboard Friday series on the Moz Blog! 🎉 Taking a trip down memory lane — this change actually grew out of the need to find a way for hosts to record episodes outside the office and without a whiteboard during the early days of the pandemic. A few of my team members (myself included) recorded ad-hoc episodes for which I hand-drew whiteboards on an iPad(!!), trying to maintain the feel of a hand-drawn board without one. I loved those boards, but they took forever to create. We wanted to recreate the feel of those first digitized boards but in a way that was scaleable. After all, we had to be able to consistently create one every week. 🧠 🎨 I partnered with our amazing design team (Shoutout to Troy White) to get digital frames made that I could use to brand these images and got to work. If you follow the Moz Blog and Whiteboard Friday, you now see one of these images every week. And having just passed the 100th design, I wanted to share a few of the boards I’ve digitized over the years. (Although I wish I could share them all, I had to pick just a few to highlight.) 75% of customers will abandon a product if it doesn't align with their values. Your success isn't just about what you sell — it's also about what you stand for. To build lasting loyalty, ensure your marketing reflects the values that truly matter to your audience. 🌍 Learn more in this week's episode of Whiteboard Friday with Navah Hopkins, available on the Moz Blog on-demand: https://mz.cm/4dNyGyE #WhiteboardFriday

I had a theory from the Google leaks: The HCU is not about content. It's about brand:links ratio. I've looked at the last 3 updates, ~2m keywords, and tens of thousands of sites, trying to prove it. Results are a lot clearer than I expected. In fact they're so clear, I did the whole thing again for a bunch of periods when I knew the HCU wasn't rolling out, just to double check I wasn't seeing things. And yes, I also looked at the most recent update, and yes, the median HCU loser experienced a (very) partial recovery. So what does this mean? - A lot of the work HCU sites have been told (by Google!) to do to recover, won't actually be the reason they recovered, if they did - Brand is very important to how Google thinks about search (duh, we knew that already) - Take Google's advice on algo updates with a pinch of salt. I'm not saying I have the whole picture here, I'm definitely not saying they use BA/DA, but clearly there is more to this than they have been saying.

I've been writing for over 10 years and this was the hardest piece to write in my whole career. Here's a story of how we said goodbye to our biggest client. It was the toughest decision we have made to date and it taught us many important lessons, two biggest ones being: 1️⃣ Address customer concentration risks early The ugly truth is many agencies have customer concentration issues. We just don't talk about it. And we should! Maybe if we did we wouldn't have learned the hard way. 2️⃣ Make decisions based on values Sometimes your commercial goals will clash with your values. Personally, I would always choose the latter but be ready to own that decision. It's not easy! Was it the right decision? I still don't know. The aftermath has been challenging and I know not everyone will agree with it. And, that's ok too. Big thanks to Moz for their support on this. Particularly Jo Cameron and chima mmeje🏳️🌈 Back when I was a baby SEO feeding on the next Whiteboard Friday I dreamt of writing for you. So this is a big one for me! ❤️ https://lnkd.in/ePSpHH6V
