𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐂𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐆𝐚𝐩 𝐢𝐧 𝐂𝐥𝐢𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐂𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐬 𝐋’é𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝐜𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞𝐥 𝐝𝐚𝐧𝐬 𝐥𝐚 𝐜𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐞 𝐜𝐥𝐢𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐪𝐮𝐞 In September 2024, as part of NAC SPHERE Festival, a panel was held connected to the presentation of Irresistible Neighbourhoods: Walking on Water. In this panel, Climate Dramaturg Vicki Stroich (Caravan Farm Theatre), Metcalf Fellow on Arts and Society David Maggs, and NAC English Theatre’s Judi Pearl discussed their emergent, research-based approach to working with artists around themes of climate and sustainability. Moderated by NAC English Theatre Artistic Director Nina Lee Aquino, this live chat asked the question: as significant efforts across various fields struggle to fully activate the transformation, can the arts help to close the gap by activating our cultural selves towards more sustainable lives?   To watch the full video, click on the link below. Aujourd'hui, Caroline Ohrt Productrice générale de Danse CNA, partage son profond attachement à sa langue maternelle. J’aime le français. Je me délecte de cette langue poétique qui me berce depuis toujours. Le mien est le français de Québec et celui de Montréal, les deux superposés. Et le tien chante selon ta propre harmonie. Le nôtre est une mosaïque riche de sa pluralité. C’est un Français multiple, qui irradie ses influences, ses nuances. Avec nos français, les possibilités sont infinies, les mots se bousculent et s’entrelacent. Je porte ma langue fièrement, je la façonne, je la fais jouer et je la respecte. J’aime mon français, ma langue, mon identité, mon ancrage, ma liberté. Today, Caroline Ohrt, Executive Producer of NAC Dance, shares her deep connection to her mother tongue. I love French. I relish this poetic language that has always cradled me. Mine is the French of Quebec and Montreal - the two superimposed. And yours sings in your own harmony. Ours is a mosaic rich in plurality. It's multifaceted, radiating its influences and nuances. With our French, the possibilities are endless, words jostle and intertwine. I carry my language proudly, I shape it, I play with it, and I respect it. I love my French, my language, my identity, my roots, my freedom. Let's celebrate our collective French together! Thank you to everyone who joined us at our Annual Public Meeting. We appreciate your support as we looked back on the 2023–2024 season. We're excited about what’s next and the collaborations to come. We’re also pleased to share that Lori Marchand Managing Director of Indigenous Theatre, has been awarded The King Charles the Third Coronation Medal for her contributions to the arts in Canada. Her work has been key to the growth of Indigenous Theatre at the NAC. Merci à toutes et à tous qui ont assisté à notre Assemblée publique annuelle. Votre participation pour revenir sur la saison 2023–2024 a été très appréciée. Nous sommes impatients de poursuivre nos projets et collaborations à venir. Nous sommes également heureux de vous annoncer que Lori Marchand, Directrice administrative du Théâtre autochtone, a reçu la Médaille du Couronnement du Roi Charles III pour ses contributions aux arts au Canada. Son travail a été essentiel au développement du Théâtre autochtone au CNA.
