Canada has always been a land of opportunity—we lead with ambition, embrace change and rise to meet the moment. In his "Letter to Canada," our CEO Blake Hutcheson reminds us that while our nation faces pressing challenges, we have the resources, the resilience and the leadership to turn the tide. Blake's Toronto Region Board of Trade’s address isn’t just a reflection of where we are; it’s a call to action for where we must go. Thank you to the amazing women in our network. With more than 50% of our employees and our members identifying as women, their passion, insights and excellence drive our culture, business and communities forward. In a purpose-driven organization, how we show up matters. That includes the work of our Women@OMERS and Women in Tech ERGs in helping to ensure all employees are empowered to network, engage in dialogue and drive initiatives that support an inclusive culture. Reflecting on International Women’s Day, it’s an honour to be recognized alongside Oxford Properties Group as one of Great Place to Work® Canada's Best Workplaces for Women, shining a light on our team’s efforts to create an environment where everyone can thrive.

💜 As our CHRO, Nancy Nazer, Ph.D. ICD. says: Purpose is at everything we do at OMERS and Oxford. In honor of #IWD2025, we hosted an event at OMERS and Oxford Properties Group that recognized and celebrated just how embedded purpose is in our culture. Moderated by Elissa Lansdell, we had three exceptional women, Alysha Law, Shafak Khanani and Rachel Rasminsky share their inspiring stories, as well as heartfelt video segments of colleagues across the enterprise. Listening to their stories, I felt a profound sense of alignment, togetherness and genuine care for one another. They portrayed how we can show up for ourselves and others and that even the smallest acts can have monumental impact. As Elissa highlighted: "You don't need to lead big projects to make a difference; you just need to create a safe space where people feel they belong". By being vulnerable, we build authentic connections that foster trust and understanding. By ensuring everyone is seen, heard, and given opportunities, we create a ripple effect of belonging and empowerment. In partnership with our Indigenous Peoples Alliance, we also supported Moon Time Connections, an Indigenous-led period product drive. Thank you to our I&D Co-Chairs Blake Hutcheson, Nancy Nazer, Ph.D. ICD. and our Executive Sponsor Celine Chiovitti for continuing to prioritize Inclusion & Diversity. A shoutout to the International Women’s Day Committee whose vision and collaboration brought the event together: Jennifer Samarco, CPA, CA, CBV, Alysha Law, Amanda Nagy, Nikki Holland, Marina Larina, FCCA (UK), CPA, , Hamid Roman, Melissa Martens, Andréa Armborst, Elif Kilic, Rachel Morrison Montoya and our Corporate Services Team. Happy International Women’s Day! 💜

This year’s theme for International Women’s Day is #acceleratingaction. Like many of you, I juggle multiple responsibilities, pouring my heart into everything I do — whether it’s caring for my family, supporting friends or giving my best at OMERS. I am a woman. A wife. A mother. A daughter. A sister. A friend. An executive leader. I fully embrace and love each of these identities. And of course, if you know me, I’ve got shoes for each one. On a recent flight to New York, I saw Martha Stewart. Here is a woman who has truly mastered the art of wearing different ‘shoes’. She’s been a model, a stockbroker, a chef, an entrepreneur, a TV personality and a business mogul. She has built an empire from the ground up twice over and continues to evolve. Seeing her reminded me that as women, we are not confined to just one role or chapter in our lives. We can always try on a new pair. We have the power to redefine ourselves, take on new challenges and create our own paths. To me, action is synonymous with impact — a word so powerful, OMERS centered our employee value proposition around it. I’m focused on ensuring my team and the ~3,000 employees I serve (more than half identifying as women) have what they need to grow, prioritize wellness and feel included. I am equally committed to helping the women around me feel seen and supported. Together, let’s accelerate the impact we can have by simply accepting ourselves, just as we are. Happy International Women's Day! #IWD2025 #empoweryourimpact

That's me in the polka-dot dress, just two months back at work after maternity leave and working with my OMERS colleagues in Pensions to champion equity in retirement and to contribute to closing the gender pension gap. Women retire with 30% less retirement savings than men, on average, in large part due to leaves - maternity leaves and caregiving leaves - and not realizing the true impact they have on our pensions. We're going to fix that! #IWD2025 #Pensions
One of the highlights of my year is bringing together some of the incredible women leaders on my Pensions team—along with those who support and uplift them—for an afternoon of celebration and empowerment. This International Women’s Day, I hosted a high tea to reflect on the impact women have in shaping our industry, strengthening communities and inspiring future generations. This year’s theme, #AccelerateAction, is a reminder that progress is a collective effort. By championing equity and advocating for financial security in retirement for all, we can continue to drive meaningful change, especially to close the gender pension gap, which leaves women with, on average, 30% less savings in retirement than men. This event was an opportunity to have an important conversation with the leaders, mentors and changemakers who are making a difference every day. Thank you for supporting each other and our 640,000 members! #IWD2025 #WomenInLeadership #Pensions

“If ever there was a time for us to step up this is our time. If ever there was a time for true, courageous leadership, this is it.” I firmly believe in these words, which I was honoured to deliver last week to the more than 1,000 people who attended the Toronto Region Board of Trade’s 135th Annual Dinner. I was in terrific company, sharing the stage with Giles Gherson, Greta Cutulenco, Teresa Resch, and Geoffrey Smith. I warmly congratulate Geoff, whose career has been truly spectacular leading EllisDon for decades, on his prestigious 2025 Toronto Region Builder Award. So, so very well deserved, and thank you for the lifetime of partnerships, Geoff, with Oxford Properties Group and OMERS. Seeing so many proud and accomplished Canadians take the time to come out, on Ontario election night no less, drove home for me how deeply we are all seeking connection and leadership in this complex, difficult, and indeed sad time in the history of our U.S./Canada familial relationship. Recognizing this was a moment in time for our country, I took the liberty of trying something I have never tried before - a “Letter to Canada” on the evening’s theme of Dare to Lead. The weekend before, in preparation, somehow my pen, and I guess my heart, felt compelled to write this letter. I have been encouraged to share it with you here https://lnkd.in/eFdwNgwu. Thank you to the TRBOT for hosting an important and powerful event. If you get the time to read this letter, I hope it resonates with you in some way. Stay strong, we all have a critical role to play in these important times. We will get through this together.
