The PTRC is a not-for-profit company funding research and development in EOR and CCS.
About us
The PTRC is a world leader in the development of enhanced oil recovery (EOR) and carbon dioxide storage demonstration projects. At PTRC, we seek to be the incubator, accelerator and developer of research and innovation to reduce the carbon footprint and increase the production of subsurface energy. Our important field trials have included: the IEAGHG Weyburn-Midale CO2 Monitoring and Storage Project; the Joint Implementation of Vapour Extraction (JIVE) Project that looked at three separate oil field applications of solvent vapour extraction technologies; and the Aquistore CO2 Storage Project associated with SaskPower's Boundary Dam Carbon Capture Facility in southeastern Saskatchewan. PTRC works by leveraging government with private sectors funds, collaborating with different oil companies to identify the areas of research and field trials that will have the most impact on production. PTRC's R&D and field trials move the needle on recovery from Western Canada's sometimes difficult-to-access oil, improving efficiency, reducing environmental effects, and maximizing returns from existing infrastructure.

PTRC's Dr. Marziyeh Kamali recently had the pleasure of teaching young people in the University of Regina's Educating Youth in Engineering and Science (EYES) program. Specifically, Marziyeh taught as part of the all-girls EYES program, which is seeking to improve girls' access and interest in science, technology, engineering and science (STEM). The three activities about carbon emissions, geothermal energy, and carbon storage were all held during different weeks and included classes for Grades 1 to 3 students and Grades 4 to 6. Thanks to the enthusiastic girls and to EYES for its great work.

Matt Nasehi, PTRC's Director of Energy Innovation, and Chair of the ISO TC-265, recently spoke at the Indonesian CCS Forum in Jakarta, sharing his and the PTRC's knowledge about CCS.
I had the honor of speaking at the 2nd International & Indonesia CCS Forum in Jakarta last week. Indonesia is moving forward on CCS initiatives at a very impressive pace, making serious and meaningful strides toward development of regional CCS collaborations with Singapore, Japan, South Korea and other countries in the region. Congratulation to the organizers Belladonna Maulianda , Hendra Halim, Rizky Muhammad Kahfie and the entire team at the Indonesia CCS Center for such a wonderful event.
