  • “Yesterday, I was at the mammography department for a biopsy. I want to thank everyone for their care and attention to my well-being. I especially want to thank Shina and Diane. Shina stayed with me every moment checking in and making an uncomfortable procedure more comfortable. Diane took time to let me sit quietly, eyes closed, until I was ready for her post-biopsy info and help. Many thanks!” Has someone at PHSA made a difference in your life? • The Psychological Health & Safety team recognizes Jared Husdon, category lead, Category Management, Lab and DI, PHSA Procurement, with the Certificate of Recognition for Psychological Health and Safety in the Workplace. Promoting inclusion, diversity and meaningful conversation is necessary for a psychologically healthy and safe work environment. Jared launched the inaugural Willingdon Pride event, a space created for employees to learn about, celebrate, and foster meaningful dialogue about diversity and the significance of Pride for the 2SLGBTQIA+ community. This event highlighted PHSA’s commitment to creating a workplace where everyone feels valued and included. It also brought together members and allies of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community across PHSA programs to increase visibility, celebrate diversity and strengthen connections. Jared’s leadership in organizing the event was greatly appreciated by his colleagues and community members. In addition to organizing the Pride event, Jared played a key role in implementing an action plan to support and advocate for the trans community following a workplace incident. He addressed key issues and provided necessary resources to ensure that trans, Two-Spirit and non-binary people received support. His actions demonstrate his commitment to creating an inclusive workplace where all employees feel safe, respected and empowered to be their authentic selves. Jared’s colleagues describe him as someone who is always available to listen and believes that employees are more likely to contribute positively to the work environment when they feel empowered and supported. By promoting empowerment and inclusion, Jared fosters a work environment that emphasizes psychological well-being and enables all staff members to perform at their best. "It's really about freedom to me," Jared says. "Feeling mentally and emotionally secure frees me up to be authentic at work without fear of judgement. I can be free to take risks, share ideas and pursue whatever opportunities I want without being held back by stress or anxiety. I'm free to make choices that align with my values and reject those that don't. Ultimately it enables me to balance work and personal life in a rewarding, enjoyable way, and I want that for everyone."
