Myth 🚫: loyalty programs are for customers. We can't afford to extend our program to our employees 🤦🏼♀️. Reality 👍🏽: you can't afford NOT to extend the loyalty program to your employees. Why? ❓ 1️⃣ They are your biggest brand ambassadors 💁🏿♀️ 2️⃣ They are a rich and inexpensive source of feedback 🗣️on the customer experience 🛣️ 3️⃣ This one is my favourite 💖!!! You can use the program currency 🪙as an internal reward system. For instance, a previous organization used its own currency super successfully: 🎁As anniversary 🍾gifts 🫱🏼🫲🏾As a peer-to-peer recognition system (for instance, everyone had a points budget that I can reward anyone in the company for going above and beyond) 👟To create fitness challenges among employees to support their health and wellness (and reduce health expenses) Loyalty programs 🪙, not just for customers 🛒! We don't even get basic personalization 🎯right or have the right CRM or CDP (customer data platform) in place, but you want us to leap 🦘directly into hyper-personalization. Head of Loyalty vs. the CFO 🥊. Does it have to be a battle 💪🏾? Loyalty managers are held to a higher standard 🏆than brand marketers because results are so measurable 📏. So day after day, loyalty managers have to prove the value 🤑of the program to the CFO. Yes, the program is a huge investment and it does drive new: trips 🛫, average baskets🛒and total spend 💵. But that is sometimes harder to prove because of the chicken 🐔and egg 🥚problem: did the member spend more because of the loyalty program or 🔁did they join the program because they were already high spending.🤔 Here are a few other measures that may be easier: 📏Loyalty members stick around longer. This is huge because a 5% increase in retention = 25% increase in profits 📈 📏Data and the path to personalization 💵💵💵. Data is the new oil 🛢️and 80% of consumers say they’re more likely to do business with a company that offers personalized experiences. 📏Marketing efficiency. Loyalty members tend to be a lot more promotionally responsive AND you can use your own (i.e. less expensive) communication channels. The conversation with the CFO does not need to be a 🥊battle if you show them all the KPIs.
