In honour of International Women’s Day, Roots and Toronto Tempo came together to discuss the evolving landscape of women’s professional sports, the role brands and businesses play in driving change, and what needs to happen next to create equity in sport.    The discussion was moderated by Anjana Moitra-Ohri, CPHR, VP and Head of Human Resources at Roots, joined by Meghan C. Roach, FCPA, FCA, President and CEO of Roots, Teresa Resch, President of Toronto Tempo, Canada’s first WNBA team, and award-winning sports anchor, Kayla Grey.   As champions of sport, Roots recently became a licensee of the WNBA, creating official merch for Toronto Tempo. Women's professional sports is not just having a moment—it's leading a movement that advocates for change and inclusivity, today and always.   Thank you to everyone involved for sharing your experiences and insights.    Watch Roots Ep. 1: Women in Sport on YouTube now: https://lnkd.in/g37zaiPC #IWD #InternationalWomensDay #WomenInSport #WNBA #FemaleEmpowment

Congratulations and well done to all of the talented students and faculty involved! 🌱👏

🌱 Fostering Innovation in Sustainability through Circularity at Master of Science in Sustainability Management Program - Institute for Management & Innovation (IMI) UTM! 🌱 Today, we had the privilege of hosting the 2025 #MScSM Integrated Case Competition at the University of Toronto Mississauga, where our graduate students tackled a critical real-world challenge in collaboration with Roots Canada. This year’s case, "Closing the Loop: Evaluating Resale and Circular Economy Strategies for Roots," pushed our students to think critically about sustainable business models. Working in teams of 5-6, they developed innovative resale and circular economy strategies and presented their insights to: 🔹 Katia T. – Director of Social Compliance & Environmental Sustainability, Roots Canada 🔹 Kaleb Honsberger – Senior Vice President, General Counsel & Corporate Secretary, Roots Canada The level of creativity, strategic thinking, and passion for sustainability displayed by our students was truly inspiring. These case competitions are invaluable opportunities for future sustainability leaders to bridge theory with practice and engage directly with industry experts. A huge thank you to Roots Canada for partnering with us and to everyone who made this event a success! 👏 A big congratulations to Group 2 "Root For Us Consulting Group", consisting of: Alyssa D'Addio, Amruta Nikte, Ira Jain, Jonathan Landsman, Jordan Chang & Mamoona Khan Congratulations to all other teams who spent the past week working meticulously on putting together their recommendations and presenting them to our judges. A big thanks to Professor Michael Marin, Professor Laurel Besco, Professor Kevin Yousie in helping developing the case. == cc: Shauna Brail Brett Caraway Shashi Kant Linnet Kocheril Shena Neermul Claire Westgate #Sustainability #CircularEconomy #Resale #CaseCompetition #UTM #MScSM #RootsCanada

In the 1960s, two friends met at a summer camp in Canada’s Algonquin Park. Their love for Canada inspired them to create Roots in 1973. 🦫 We started as one store on Yonge Street in Toronto over 51 years ago  🦫 Today, we employ over 2,000 employees in Canada  🦫 We have 115 stores nationwide  🦫 In 2018, we invested millions of dollars to establish a distribution centre in Toronto to better service our stores and global e-commerce platform  🦫 We have continued to support local craftsmanship and makers at our Leather Factory in Ontario  🦫 Our beloved beaver icon, a Canadian symbol, is an expression of our love and commitment to nature, and our home In 2017, Roots became a publicly traded company in Canada. Today, we remain owned, operated, and incorporated in Canada and by Canadians.    Each year Roots donates, on average, 20,000 pieces of clothing to schools across Canada.    In 2020, we started Roots Cares, a program designed to give back to and partner with communities in need across Canada. Since then, we have donated over $4 million in cash and in-kind donations to organizations across the country. These have included Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Centre, Rainbow Railroad, Brands for Canada, Canadian Women’s Foundation, and many more.    Last year, we entered a multi-year partnership with Nature Conservancy of Canada to protect the land that inspires everything we do.    We are proud of our rich Canadian heritage, connection to nature, and commitment to community.    From our Roots, we thank you for your continued support and 51 years of Canadian memories.
