Supplier Spotlight: Illuminating the Seas with Glamox Marine, Offshore & Wind. Marine lighting design and manufacturing is a delicate balance between aesthetic appeal, technical demands, and environmental considerations. Something that Glamox Canada knows all too well. On current and future NSS programs, Glamox has been tasked with manufacturing up to 24,000 vessel lights — from advanced searchlight, helideck light and navigation light systems to lighting for accommodation areas, machinery spaces and everything in between. In an effort to support maritime education and workforce development, the Dennis and Phyllis Washington Foundation, in conjunction with Seaspan, is proud to be donating $5.26 million to establish the Trades Training Centre at Camosun College’s Coastal Centre located in Esquimalt, B.C. Adjacent to Seaspan's Victoria Shipyards, the training centre will adopt an ‘Indigenous First’ approach, offering scholarships and prioritized access to Indigenous students. By enhancing workforce development and offering resources for students entering the trades, the Trades Training Centre will be instrumental in tackling the pressing national shortage of skilled professionals in this sector, which is essential for Canada’s economic stability. We had a BIG ↔️ visitor to Seaspan's Vancouver Drydock, the DBL 185 oil barge and Dublin Sea tug, which together are known as an ATB - Articulated Tug Barge. After 6 weeks docked in North Van, this project marked one of our largest of the year, which included: ✅ Prep and painting of both the barge & tug's hulls, decks, and ballast tanks ✅ Mechanical work including renewal of both rudder/rudder stocks to new design & type ✅ Regulatory survey items 📹: Sherwin-Williams Protective & Marine Coatings

Last week, Seaspan successfully completed the loadout of the main engines and gearboxes for the Royal Canadian Navy | Marine royale canadienne's HMCS Preserver ⚓. Take a look as Big Blue shows off its strength and lifts one of the 73 tonne engines into place 💪. HMCS Preserver is the second Joint Support Ship currently under construction at Seaspan's Vancouver Shipyards, with the first ship, HMCS Protecteur, on track to launch by the end of this year 🌊. Shipbuilding is an art, and no one better personifies that than Dylan Humphreys, Sandblaster and Painter at Vancouver Shipyards. A talented artist outside of the shipyard, Dylan also brings those intricate skills to work with him every day. At Seaspan, Dylan paints (often freehand) many of the recognizable emblems and signs on the ships that we're building, including the iconic maple leaf on the Canadian Coast Guard/Garde côtière canadienne's CCGS Naalak Nappaaluk 🍁. We have signed an MoU with Seaspan ULC to support our new-build projects in Canada, and around the world, through the manufacturing of key components for our advanced AP1000® and AP300™ reactors. With three shipyards in British Columbia and a workforce of 4,000 employees, Seaspan is a leader in delivering complex manufacturing projects. “We are proud to establish this new relationship with Seaspan and bring them into our network of more than 450 Canadian suppliers,” said Dan Lipman, President of Westinghouse Energy Systems. With one ship successfully launched at our Vancouver Shipyards and another on the horizon before the end of the year, it’s all systems go at Seaspan Shipyards. Our Victoria Shipyards and Vancouver Drydock teams are busy too, working on repair and refit projects for a variety of vessels ranging from cruise ships to fishing vessels. Over 100 Seaspan employees from across Victoria and the Lower Mainland came together to clean up over 2 km of shoreline this year at our 2024 Shoreline Cleanup, removing over 80 kg of trash and debris from Tsawwassen Beach and Fort Rodd Hill National Historic Site. Co-hosted by our Environment team and our VAMOS Employee Group, volunteers at the Lower Mainland cleanup were also treated to a delicious paella prepared by the Paella Guys after the cleanup. Volunteers at the Lower Mainland cleanup also received thanks from the Tsawwassen First Nation for helping keep their traditional territory clean. For nearly 20 years, Seaspan employees and their families have proudly cared for BC’s shorelines. Thank you to all of this year’s volunteers for your support and demonstrating Care for the environment and our communities!
