Geoscience in Action: Copper Pit Tour  This fall, Terus welcomed a geoscience class—one teacher and nine eager students—for an unforgettable tour of their Copper Pit. The group explored exposed aggregate layers, delving into how they formed over thousands of years. From glacial-era deposits (~12,000 years old) to more recent formations (~9,000 years ago), students witnessed the fascinating history beneath their feet. The class also showed keen interest in Terus’ asphalt production process, asking thoughtful questions about how different aggregates influence pavement durability, texture, and drainage. This hands-on learning experience left everyone inspired and hopeful for more field trips like this in the future!
